Cancer Vaccine Development: Toward Artificial Intelligence‐Assisted Personalized Cell Membrane Nanovaccine

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 49, 1 September 2026.
Cancer nanovaccines have emerged as promising alternatives to conventional cancer vaccines, which have shown limited clinical efficacy. In particular, cell membrane nanoparticle‐based nanovaccines can offer high biocompatibility and immunogenicity while preserving tumor antigens, including antigen repertoires.

Proliferative Sparganosis Due to Spirometra mansoni in a Dog: A Detailed Diagnostic Picture

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 5, September 2026.
Innumerable small oval cystic structures were identified in the peritoneal cavity of a young dog presenting with abdominal distension and weight gain. A combination of diagnostics confirmed these structures as Spirometra mansoni plerocercoids and established a diagnosis of proliferative sparganosis.

Does Subspecialization Matter? Institutional Outcomes Before and After Recruitment of Colorectal Surgeons

open access: yesWorld Journal of Surgery, Volume 50, Issue 9, Page 2558-2564, September 2026.
Colorectal surgery fellowship is one of the most sought‐after subspecialty programs among general surgery residents, yet most colon and rectal surgeries are performed by general surgeons without specialized training. This study evaluated whether integrating fellowship‐trained colorectal surgeons (CRS) into a general surgery department is associated ...

Akkermansia muciniphila and Its Bioactive Derivatives: Emerging Regulators of Healthy Aging

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 9, September 2026.
The beneficial gut bacterium Akkermansia muciniphila (AKK) declines with age but is enriched in healthy centenarians. Supplementation of AKK extends healthspan and alleviates age‐related decline through direct host–microbe interactions and its bioactive derivatives, which collectively enhance gut barrier integrity, restore metabolic homeostasis ...

NAD+ Metabolic Reprogramming Drives CD8+ T Cells Senescence and Exacerbates Ulcerative Colitis

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 9, September 2026.
Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) depletion induces mitochondrial dysfunction and cytosolic mtDNA leakage in CD8+ T cells, activating the cGAS‐STING pathway and promoting a senescence‐associated secretory phenotype (SASP). The resulting pro‐inflammatory CD8+ T cells release IFN‐γ and TNF‐α, disrupt the intestinal epithelial barrier, and ...
