Lung Adenocarcinoma Expressing an EML4‐ALK Fusion Transcript With Premature Stop Codons and Response to Alectinib: A Case Report

open access: yesThoracic Cancer, Volume 16, Issue 15, August 2025.
A novel EML4‐ALK fusion transcript involving exon 15 of EML4 and intron 19 of ALK was identified by RNA‐based hybrid capture sequencing. Retention of the intronic sequence with premature stop codons prevented fusion protein translation. However, overexpression of a truncated ALK isoform with the kinase domain led to a response to alectinib.

Disseminated Histiocytic Sarcoma in a Japanese Macaque (Macaca fuscata)

open access: yesJournal of Medical Primatology, Volume 54, Issue 4, August 2025.
ABSTRACT Histiocytic sarcomas are rare in humans and primates. Particularly, only a few examples in nonhuman primates have been reported. This is the first report of histiocytic sarcoma in Macaca fuscata. The final diagnosis was made using immunohistochemical analysis.

Defective lymphatic vasculature in obesity

open access: yesObesity Reviews, Volume 26, Issue 8, August 2025.
Summary Lymphedema is an important, and often underdiagnosed complication of obesity and is likely due to acquired defects in the lymphatic vasculature. Study of diet‐induced obesity animal models have indicated defective lymphatic vasculatures might extend to other anatomical sites, especially visceral depots.
