AbstractThe recent description and re-classification of the mesentery as an organ prompted renewed interest in its role in physiological and pathological processes. With an improved understanding of its anatomy, accurately and reliably assessing the mesentery with non-invasive radiological investigation becomes more feasible.Multi-detector computed ...

AbstractOncological adequacy in rectal cancer surgery mandates not only a clear distal and circumferential resection margin but also resection of the entire ontogenetic mesorectal package. Incomplete removal of the mesentery is one of the commonest causes of local recurrences.

AbstractIt is clear that despite the importance of multimodal therapy, the most impactful weapon in the arsenal of treatment in a patient with colorectal cancer is high-quality surgery. This has been shown time and time again and surgery remains the bedrock in the management of visceral, and particularly colorectal, cancer.

Cholinergic nerves in the mesentery
Acta Histochemica, 1981The cholinergic innervation of extravascular portions of rat mesentery was studied in normal as well as 6-hydroxydopamine (7 OHDA) sympathectomized animals. We observed the presence of a cholinergic innervation unaltered by 6 OHDA treatment in extra-vascular portions of mesentery.

CYSTS OF the mesentery are rare and chylous cysts are extremely rare, so that the experience of any one surgeon or institution with this condition is necessarily limited. The history and the symptoms are usually varied and not characteristic; the physical and roentgenologic findings, although suggestive, are never pathognomonic.

Abstract 1. 1. A case of pure fibroma of the mesentery is reported and the clinical features of the tumor discussed. 2. 2. Primary tumor of the mesentery should be suspected in a relatively asymptomatic patient who presents with a large, freely movable abdominal mass that by roentgenography is shown to be extrinsic to the gastrointestinal and
