Automatic generation of transitional meshes

International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, 2001
AbstractAdvances in commercial computer‐aided design software have made finite element analysis with three‐dimensional solid finite elements routinely available. Since these analyses usually confine themselves to those geometrical objects for which particular CAD systems can produce finite element meshes, expanding the capability of analyses becomes an

AUTOMATIC MESH GENERATION

1994
This chapter describes the automatic mesh generation technique. The practical application of the finite element method requires extensive amounts of input data. Special mesh generation programs could help reduce this burden. The most powerful commercial codes offer extensive mesh generation and data supplementation options.

Mesh Generation Using Vector Fields

Journal of Computational Physics, 1995
A method for generating structured meshes from a given vector-field is described. This method is based on a weighted variational principle that minimizes a least squares fit to the inverse of a scaled Jacobian matrix derived from the given vector-field. The resulting grid generator is a weighted form of the earlier known Laplace grid generator equation.

Parallel Mesh Generation

2006
Parallel mesh generation is a relatively new research area between the boundaries of two scientific computing disciplines: computational geometry and parallel computing. In this chapter we present a survey of parallel unstructured mesh generation methods.
