Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Geometric parameters in the target matrix mesh optimization paradigm

open access: yesPartial Differential Equations in Applied Mathematics, 2022
The Target Matrix Optimization Paradigm for improving mesh quality has always had, as its agenda, to create a direct path between application mesh quality requirements and a set of target matrices that can result in an optimal mesh that meets the ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Mesh quality metrics for isogeometric Bernstein–Bézier discretizations

open access: yesComputer Methods in Applied Mechanics and Engineering, 2020
High-order finite element methods harbor the potential to deliver improved accuracy per degree of freedom versus low-order methods. Their success, however, hinges upon the use of a curvilinear mesh of not only sufficiently high accuracy but also sufficiently high quality.

Preserving mesh quality in shape optimization

open access: yesPAMM, 2023
AbstractIn PDE‐constrained shape optimization, a lot of computational effort is used to update the geometry at every iteration step. This iterative process can result in loss of element quality and degeneracy of the underlying mesh, which is particularly relevant for applications involving large deformations of some parts of the domain.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Perceptual Quality and Visual Experience Analysis for Polygon Mesh on Different Display Devices

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
Polygon mesh models have been widely used in various areas due to its high degree of verisimilitude and interactivity. Since the mesh models usually undergo various phases of signal processing for the purpose of storage, simplification, transmission, and
