GPU smoothing of quad meshes [PDF]

open access: yes2008 IEEE International Conference on Shape Modeling and Applications, 2008
We present a fast algorithm for converting quad meshes on the GPU to smooth surfaces. Meshes with 12,000 input quads, of which 60% have one or more non-4-valent vertices, are converted, evaluated and rendered with 9times9 resolution per quad at 50 frames per second.

On the mesh nonsingularity of the moving mesh PDE method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The moving mesh PDE (MMPDE) method for variational mesh generation and adaptation is studied theoretically at the discrete level, in particular the nonsingularity of the obtained meshes.

Blind Robust 3D Mesh Watermarking Based on Mesh Saliency and Wavelet Transform for Copyright Protection

open access: yesInformation, 2019
Three-dimensional models have been extensively used in several applications including computer-aided design (CAD), video games, medical imaging due to the processing capability improvement of computers, and the development of network bandwidth. Therefore,

Laplacian mesh smoothing with bilateral weights for characterization of freeform surfaces

open access: yesSystems Science & Control Engineering
Freeform surfaces are widely used in advanced manufacturing due to their versatility, yet their complex geometries make characterization challenging. To do a surface texture analysis, it is often necessary to first remove the form of the surface.

An ANN-based advancing double-front method for automatic isotropic triangle generation

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
The advancing front method (AFM) is one of the widely used unstructured grid generation techniques. However, the efficiency is relatively low because only one cell is generated in the advancing procedure.

Smoothing analysis of two-color distributive relaxation for solving 2D Stokes flow by multigrid method

open access: yesResults in Applied Mathematics, 2023
Smoothing properties of two-color distributive relaxation for solving a two-dimensional (2D) Stokes flow by multigrid method are theoretically investigated by using the local Fourier analysis (LFA) method.

High-Frequency Voronoi Noise Reduced by Smoothed Mesh Motion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We describe a technique for improving the performance of hydrodynamics codes which employ a moving Voronoi mesh. Currently, such codes are susceptible to high-frequency noise produced by rapid adjustments in the grid topology on the smallest scales.

Parallel Feature-Preserving Mesh Smoothing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We present a parallel approach for optimizing surface meshes by redistributing vertices on a feature-aware higher-order reconstruction of a triangulated surface. Our method is based on a novel extension of the fundamental quadric, called the medial quadric.

Discrete Fourier analysis of multigrid algorithms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The main topic of this report is a detailed discussion of the discrete Fourier multilevel analysis of multigrid algorithms. First, a brief overview of multigrid methods is given for discretizations of both linear and nonlinear partial differential ...
