Constructing IGA-suitable planar parameterization from complex CAD boundary by domain partition and global/local optimization [PDF]
In this paper, we propose a general framework for constructing IGA-suitable planar B-spline parameterizations from given complex CAD boundaries consisting of a set of B-spline curves.

Untangling spatial and temporal variation in abundances of estuarine fish sampled with multi-mesh gillnets [PDF]
Variability at small temporal scales can confound comparisons over longer periods of time but has often been ignored in studies of marine organisms. To determine appropriate methods for sampling fish at multiple temporal scales, we used hierarchical sampling to test hypotheses about temporal and spatial variation of individual species and assemblages ...

A Bifunctional T3SS‐Effector Simultaneously Cleaves Host MAP Kinase and Inhibits PPM1A Phosphatase
Pathogenic bacteria exploit the metalloprotease effector NleD to subvert host defenses. Structural, biochemical, and infection analyses reveal a bifunctional mechanism by which NleD binds and inhibits the host phosphatase PPM1A while preserving its proteolytic activity against MAPKs.

Stable and unstable vortex knots in excitable media [PDF]
We study the dynamics of knotted vortices in a bulk excitable medium using the FitzHugh-Nagumo model. From a systematic survey of all knots of at most eight crossings we establish that the generic behavior is of unsteady, irregular dynamics, with ...

On the Origins of Toughness in Corymbia calophylla (Marri Tree) Nuts
We uncover the natural toughening mechanisms of the marri nut, including fiber pullout, crack deflection, and a viscoelastic matrix, which enable exceptional energy absorption and ductility comparable to Teflon, with an elastic modulus similar to acrylic.

On Untangled Meshes via Fruchterman Reingold Force Directed Graph Embedding
In this paper, we study how to modify a physical, force-directed method based upon the Fruchterman-Reingold (FR) graph layout algorithm so that it can be used for untangling. Specifically, we have chosen Lake_20 Mesh, Lake_35 Mesh and Tri_20258 Mesh for our research work. All these meshes consist of small triangles.

GraphMaps: Browsing Large Graphs as Interactive Maps
Algorithms for laying out large graphs have seen significant progress in the past decade. However, browsing large graphs remains a challenge. Rendering thousands of graphical elements at once often results in a cluttered image, and navigating these ...

Functional compensation between clarin‐1 and clarin‐2 in cochlear hair cells. Hearing loss associated with CLRN1 mutations shows striking phenotypic variability; however, the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. This study reveals that clarin‐1 and clarin‐2 function cooperatively in cochlear hair cells to sustain mechanoelectrical ...

Diffusion–Model–Driven Discovery of Ferroelectrics for Photocurrent Applications
We developed a diffusion model–based generative AI and high‐throughput screening framework that accelerates the discovery of photovoltaic ferroelectrics. By coupling AI driven crystal generation with machine learning and DFT screening, we identified Ca3P2 and LiCdP as new ferroelectric materials exhibiting strong polarization, feasible switching ...
