A Lucas Operational Matrix Method for Solving Nonlinear Fractional Two‐Dimensional Partial Volterra Integral Equations

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
This paper introduces a new numerical method for solving a class of two‐dimensional fractional partial Volterra integral equations (2DFPVIEs). Our approach uses Lucas polynomials (LPs) to construct operational matrices (OMs) that effectively transform the complex fractional‐order equations into a more manageable system of algebraic equations.

Analysis of moving least squares approximation revisited

open access: yes, 2015
In this article the error estimation of the moving least squares approximation is provided for functions in fractional order Sobolev spaces. The analysis presented in this paper extends the previous estimations and explains some unnoticed mathematical ...

Meshless Analysis of Ductile Failure

open access: yesComputer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, 2008
We study ductile fracture using Reproducing Kernel Particle Interpolation and the Gurson-Tvergaard-Needleman (GTN) model. The meshless simulations are compared with the available experimental results and previous finite element simulations for crack propagation.

Incremental Model Order Reduction of Smoothed‐Particle Hydrodynamic Simulations

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Fluids, Volume 97, Issue 12, Page 1571-1594, December 2025.
The paper presents the development of an incremental singular value decomposition strategy for compressing time‐dependent particle simulation results, addressing gaps in the data matrices caused by temporally inactive particles. The approach reduces memory requirements by about 90%, increases the computational effort by about 10%, and preserves the ...

Local Maximum Entropy Shape Functions Based FE-EFGM Coupling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper, a new method for coupling the finite element method (FEM)and the element-free Galerkin method (EFGM) is proposed for linear elastic and geometrically nonlinear problems using local maximum entropy shape functions in theEFG zone of the ...

Comparison of the Particle Finite Element Method (PFEM) and Finite Element Method (FEM) on a Linear Elastic Heterogeneous Test Specimen

open access: yesProceedings in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, Volume 25, Issue 4, December 2025.
ABSTRACT In industrial manufacturing, large share of machining tools are produced using materials such as tungsten carbide, due to their exceptional properties. However, they are now classified as critical, due to the limited availability of constituents and the accompanying social‐environmental concerns related to their mining and processing.

Invariant meshless discretization schemes [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Physics A: Mathematical and Theoretical, 2013
A method is introduced for the construction of meshless discretization schemes which preserve Lie symmetries of the differential equations that these schemes approximate. The method exploits the fact that equivariant moving frames provide a way of associating invariant functions to non-invariant functions.

A model-integrated localized collocation meshless method (MIMS)

open access: yesComputer Assisted Methods in Engineering and Science, 2017
A model integrated meshless solver (MIMS) tailored to solve practical large-scale industrial problems is based on robust meshless methods strategies that integrate a native model-based point generation procedures.
