A Large Dentigerous Cyst in a Child as a Complication of Deciduous Molar Endodontic Treatment: An Interesting Case Report with Short Literature Review

open access: yesCase Reports in Dentistry, Volume 2023, Issue 1, 2023., 2023
This study presents a case report of an inflammatory dentigerous cyst of tooth #35, associated with its previously endodontically treated deciduous predecessor. Cystic lesion growth caused impaction of the second premolar, displacing it closer to the lower border of the mandible.

Performance comparison of three deep learning models for impacted mesiodens detection on periapical radiographs

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
This study aimed to develop deep learning models that automatically detect impacted mesiodens on periapical radiographs of primary and mixed dentition using the YOLOv3, RetinaNet, and EfficientDet-D3 algorithms and to compare their performance ...

Mesiodens: a radiographic study in children [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Oral Science, 2008
We analyzed the frequency and radiological features of mesiodens in a group of children in Turkey. The study was based on a radiographic review of 23,000 pediatric patients (male: 12,667 female; 10,333) who visited the Department of Oral Diagnosis and Radiology during the period 2003-2005 (3 years).

Digital Laser‐Sintered Expander in Adolescent Patient with Hyperdontia and Molar Impaction

open access: yesCase Reports in Dentistry, Volume 2023, Issue 1, 2023., 2023
Supernumerary teeth can have normal or abnormal morphologic structure and characteristics, and their impacted form is diagnosed usually during X‐ray examinations. In this case report, the presented patient is a 16‐year‐old female with anterior and right posterior open bite and bilateral posterior crossbite, upper right supernumerary paramolar, and ...

An evaluation of mesiodentes: A retrospective study with cone-beam computed tomography [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Background: The mesiodens, located in the palatal midline between the two maxillary central incisors, is the most common type of supernumerary tooth. The aim of this study was to evaluate the distribution of mesiodentes according to shape, position, and ...

Double mesiodens in mixed dentition period: Report of 3 cases

open access: yesSRM Journal of Research in Dental Sciences, 2018
Mesiodens is a supernumerary tooth present in the midline of maxilla, between central incisors, occurring in 0.15%–1.9% of populations. Mesiodens is the most commonly found supernumerary teeth on many occasions.

A multidisciplinary approach toward the replacement of missing maxillary anterior teeth using impacted mesiodens as abutment via “reverse endodontic treatment”

open access: yesEndodontology, 2022
The case report presents the rehabilitation of a missing maxillary anterior tooth. The case was complicated by the presence of an inverted, impacted mesiodens, which led to the impaction of the permanent maxillary central incisor.

Smile Attractiveness and Treatment Needs of Maxillary Midline Diastema with Various Widths: Perception among Laypersons, Dental Students, and Dentists in Malaysia

open access: yesInternational Journal of Dentistry, Volume 2023, Issue 1, 2023., 2023
Smile attractiveness and the need for treatment of maxillary midline diastema with various widths are perceived differently between dentally trained and nondentally trained individuals of different sociodemographic backgrounds. This study aims to evaluate how laypersons, dental students, and dentists in Malaysia differ in their perceptions on smile ...
