Cryptococcosis of the mesocolon.
クリプトコックス症はCryptococcs neoformansによって惹起される, 亜急性ないし慢性感染性疾患の総称である. これらの疾患は主として中枢神経系, 呼吸器系臓器および皮膚などを侵すことが多く, 消化管に発症した報告はほとんどない. 著者らは66歳男性の結腸間膜に発症したクリプトコックス症の臨床経過について報告した。患者は初診時右下腹部腫瘤以外の自覚症状を欠如し, 各種X線検査の結果, 良性腸間膜腫瘍を疑われて手術された. 腫瘤は上行, 横行結腸間膜領野に存在し, 大きさは11.0×6.0cm, 境界は比較的明瞭であり, 硬度は弾性軟であり, 軽度の波動性が認められた. 切除標本の病理組織学的所見はクリプトコックスによる嚢胞形成と診断された.

Colonoscopic examination is a safe procedure, however, unexpected complications can sometimes occur. Bleeding and perforation of the colon have been reported as the most common complications. Hemoperitoneum after colonoscopy is an unusual complication, but it may be catastrophic.
