Late Quaternary Montane Forest Dynamics From Equatorial East Africa: A Biome Perspective

open access: yesJournal of Biogeography, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim Understanding environmental change over large spatial and temporal scales requires working at a broad ecological scale to enable cross‐site comparisons. This allows data‐based comparisons to dynamic vegetation model outputs, with utility for climate and land cover modelling.

Diffractive Vector Mesons in DIS: Meson Structure and QCD [PDF]

open access: yesActa Phys.Polon. B31 (2000) 2485-2494, 2000
I review the modern status of QCD theory of diffractive vector meson production with the focus on shrinkage of photons with Q2 and (Q2+mV2)$scaling, j-plane properties of the QCD pomeron and Regge shrinkage of diffraction cone, $s$-channel helicity non-conservation and sensitivity to spin-orbital properties of vector mesons.

Meson Reactions in Deuterium and Meson-Nucleon Scattering [PDF]

open access: yesProgress of Theoretical Physics, 1952
Various meson reactions in deuterium are investigated on the basis of impulse approximation. Then one obtains the close connection between deuteron data and nucleon data, which is shown to be useful to get an insight into the spin- and charge-dependences of meson-nucleon interaction.

Origins and Diversification of the Caatinga Dry Forest Endemic Avifauna

open access: yesJournal of Biogeography, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim Understanding the geographic origin of lineages is critical to comprehending their biogeographical and evolutionary histories and the historical connections among biomes. In northeastern Brazil, the Caatinga dry forest represents the largest and most biologically diverse patch of Seasonally Dry Tropical Forest in the Neotropics.

Electromagnetic Transition Form Factor of the η meson with WASA-at-COSY

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2016
In this work we present a study of the Dalitz decay η → γe+e−. The aim of this work is to measure the transition form factor of the η meson. The transition form factor of the η meson describes the electromagnetic structure of the meson.

Meson propagators in spontaneously broken gauge theories [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2001
Contrary to common belief, the longitudinal vector meson and scalar meson propagators have very different forms in spontaneously broken gauge theories. We choose the Abelian-Higgs model as an example and show that the longitudinal vector meson and scalar meson propagators have double poles by an extensive use of the Ward-Takahashi identities.

Freshwater fishes of the Waterberg aquatic ecoregion, South Africa: Diversity, taxonomic conflicts and conservation concerns

open access: yesJournal of Fish Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Southern Africa is a region denoted by both high levels of fish diversity, some of it cryptic and unrecognised by current taxonomy, and severely threatened freshwater ecosystems. The Waterberg, a key aquatic ecoregion of the greater Limpopo River basin in South Africa, represents an area with high terrestrial conservation value but is lacking ...

Reproductive females of a cooperatively breeding rodent are in better body condition when living in large groups

open access: yesJournal of Zoology, EarlyView.
Our study on wild Natal mole‐rats (Cryptomys hottentotus natalensis), a cooperatively breeding social rodent, found that the body condition of reproductive females improved with helper number during both the benign summer and the harsher winter season.
