3D Petro‐Structural Evolution of the High Pressure‐Low Temperature Phyllite‐Quartzite Nappe Pile in Southern Peloponnese, Greece

open access: yesTectonics, Volume 44, Issue 12, December 2025.
Abstract Tectonic underplating of high‐pressure/low‐temperature (HP‐LT) tectonic slices is a key mechanism in crustal growth at convergent margins. Yet, the processes controlling the geometry, depth and sequence of underplating events remain poorly constrained.

Review of the tetrapod skull–neck boundary: implications for the evolution of the atlas–axis complex

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 100, Issue 6, Page 2435-2470, December 2025.
ABSTRACT This review describes variation in modern and fossil occiput–atlas–axis complex anatomy of total group Tetrapoda with the aim of documenting the range of structural variation throughout their evolutionary history to establish grounds for comparison of the complex between tetrapod clades.

Assessment and Zonation of Flood Susceptibility in Sylhet Division, Bangladesh Using GIS and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP)

open access: yesJournal of Flood Risk Management, Volume 18, Issue 4, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Flooding poses a persistent challenge in Bangladesh, where complete prevention remains difficult due to its geographical and climatic conditions. This study integrates the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) with Geographic Information System (GIS) techniques to create a detailed flood susceptibility map for the Sylhet division in northern ...

Almost billfish: convergent longirostry, micro‐dentition, and possible glandular sinuses in a large teleost fish from the Upper Cretaceous of Northern Italy

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, Volume 247, Issue 6, Page 1109-1130, December 2025.
A fossil rostrum fragment of a large teleost fish from the Upper Cretaceous of Northern Italy reveals remarkable anatomical convergences with Cenozoic and Recent billfishes (marlins, swordfishes, and akin). The extinct group Plethodidae independently acquired a long snout, micro‐teeth, and oil‐gland sinuses well before the evolution of true billfishes.

Orogenward Migration of the Flexural Forebulge: A Response to Increased (Sub)surface Loading in the Orogenic Core?

open access: yesTerra Nova, Volume 37, Issue 6, Page 439-451, December 2025.
ABSTRACT The flexural profile of a foreland basin is controlled by lower plate strength and the magnitude of (sub)surface loads. Assuming that lower plate strength remains largely constant during flexure, changes in the flexural profile hint at reorganisations of (sub)surface loading.

Geodetic Strain Rates, Slip Deficit Rates, and Seismic Potential in the Tianshan, Central Asia

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 52, Issue 22, 28 November 2025.
Abstract The Tianshan is an intracontinental orogenic belt that has experienced over 100 Mw ≥ 6 earthquakes since 1700. However, strain rates and slip deficit rates on mapped faults in this region—key factors in assessing its seismic potential—remain underexplored.
