EQS: An Elastic and Scalable Message Queue for the Cloud
2011 IEEE Third International Conference on Cloud Computing Technology and Science, 2011With the emergence of cloud computing, on-demand resources usage is made possible. This allows applications to elastically scale out according to the load. One design pattern that suits this paradigm is the event-driven architecture (EDA) in which messages are sent asynchronously between distributed application instances using message queues.

On the queueing analysis of dispersed periodic messages
Proceedings IEEE INFOCOM 2000. Conference on Computer Communications. Nineteenth Annual Joint Conference of the IEEE Computer and Communications Societies (Cat. No.00CH37064), 2002Constant bit rate (CBR) traffic is expected to be an important source of traffic in high-speed networks. Such sources may have stringent delay and loss requirements and in many cases, they should be delivered exactly as they were generated. A simple delay priority scheme will bound the cell delay and jitter for CBR flows, so that in the network ...

We introduce Remote Queues (RQ), a communication model that integrates polling with selective interrupts to support a wide range of applications and communication paradigms. We show that polling is desirable for a range of applications for both performance and atomicity.

This chapter, though brief, might be one of the most important in this book. It surveys two technologies—caches and messages queues—that have become fundamental building blocks for services under heavy loads. The book here reaches a turning point here.

Security of message queue telemetry transport protocol
2017 25th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference (SIU), 2017In this study, the Internet of things is defined and lightweight protocols that the devices can use to communicate with each other are specified, and message queue telemetry transport (MQTT) protocol, which is designed to be used for restricted devices, is detailed. In the scope of this paper, the studies about the authentication of the objects and the

Multiserver Queue Storage Requirements With Unpacked Messages
IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1972This paper presents a complete statistical characterization of the equilibrium storage requirements for a multiserver queue handling messages with exponential length and service time requirements. The distinguishing feature of the model presented here is that messages are assumed to be stored in unpacked form in finite-size buffers.

Cloud Message Queueing and Notification: Challenges and Opportunities
IEEE Cloud Computing, 2018The current mobile app development practice, like other large-scale network-centric software projects, is characterized by the use of event notification facilities supporting the exchange of effective and efficient data flows between the applications front-end, usually located on customers terminal equipment and the back-end services available within ...
