Collaborative meta-learning

open access: yes, 2010
This paper proposes an ontology and a markup language to describe machine learning experiments in a standardized fashion and support a collaborative approach to the analysis of learning algorithms. Experiments can then be shared with the community and augmented with large amounts of experiments by other researchers as well as all measurable properties ...

Advancing Precision Nutrition Through Multimodal Data and Artificial Intelligence

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Individual responses to food vary dramatically, challenging traditional dietary advice. This review explores how the unique genetic makeup, gut microbiome, and brain activity shape host metabolic health. We examine how artificial intelligence integrates these multimodal data to predict individualized dietary needs, moving beyond one‐size‐fits‐all ...

Analysis of Multiscale Condensation Phenomena Using a Zero‐Shot Computer Vision Framework

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A zero‐shot computer vision framework quantifies multiscale condensation dynamics by automatically segmenting droplets and extracting physical parameters without labeled data. The workflow integrates data mining and statistical analysis to reveal droplet growth, coalescence statistics, and sweeping behaviors, enabling label‐free measurement of heat ...

In Situ Quantization with Memory‐Transistor Transfer Unit Based on Electrochemical Random‐Access Memory for Edge Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By combining ionic nonvolatile memories and transistors, this work proposes a compact synaptic unit to enable low‐precision neural network training. The design supports in situ weight quantization without extra programming and achieves accuracy comparable to ideal methods. This work obtains energy consumption advantage of 25.51× (ECRAM) and 4.84× (RRAM)

XOR‐Logic Phase Coding Programmable Metasurface for Low Power‐Consumption Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By leveraging XOR logic, the biasing‐network complexity of 2D programmable metasurfaces is reduced from m×n to m+n through efficient row‐column control. This enables versatile functions including beam deflection and beamforming, facilitating applications in wireless communications and beyond.

Meta-learning with Heterogeneous Tasks

open access: yes
Meta-learning is a general approach to equip machine learning models with the ability to handle few-shot scenarios when dealing with many tasks. Most existing meta-learning methods work based on the assumption that all tasks are of equal importance. However, real-world applications often present heterogeneous tasks characterized by varying difficulty ...

Price Premiums for Single‐Name and Compound‐Name Geographical Indications in Swiss Cheese Trade

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Geographical indications (GIs) have become increasingly important in agri‐food markets, especially in Europe. For Swiss cheese imports and exports, we analyze whether GIs are associated with higher trade prices. We find that price premiums can be obtained for both exports and imports. However, this is only the case for cheeses with single name
