High-pressure Ca metasomatism of metabasites (Mont Avic, Western Alps): insights into fluid–rock interaction during subduction [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Mineralogy
The study of rock chemistry is a milestone in understanding fluid–rock interactions and fluid migration in subduction zones. When combined with thermodynamic models, it can provide direct insight into fluid composition, metasomatic reactions, and ...

The Piedmont Zone From the Western Alps (Italy): New Insights From High‐Pressure Ophiolitic Metasediments in the Soana Valley

open access: yesJournal of Metamorphic Geology, Volume 43, Issue 9, Page 909-937, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Metaophiolites and metasediments of the Piedmont Zone are exposed in the Soana Valley, a poorly studied area of the Western Alps, located between the Europe‐related Gran Paradiso massif and the Adria‐related Sesia–Lanzo zone. Previous investigations reported the occurrence of only greenschist‐facies metamorphic assemblages in the metasediments.

Radiogenic Heating as the Thermal Driver of Himalayan Crustal Heating During Prolonged Thickening

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 26, Issue 11, November 2025.
Abstract The thermal evolution of the crust during continental collision evolves from cold to hot with time, which impacts crustal reworking and differentiation. However, it remains elusive as to the mechanism driving the crust to be hot during the protracted collision.

INDICATION OF META-ANTHRACITE BY MAGNETOTELLURICS IN THE KŐSZEG-RECHNITZ PENNINIC WINDOW : A TEST AREA [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
One of the Penninic Nappes is the Kőszeg-Rechnitz (K-R) tectonic window at the Eastern end of the Eastern Alps. It has a complicated metamorphic history from the Jurassic time.

Crustal Architecture and Low‐Temperature Geochronology of an Apparent Cycladic Tectonic Window (NE Attica, Greece): Insights Into Imbrication in Subduction Settings

open access: yesTectonics, Volume 44, Issue 11, November 2025.
Abstract Understanding the timing and configuration of tectonic nappes in collapsed orogens is integral to reconstructing its geodynamic evolution. Northeastern Attica lies between bivergent Miocene detachment systems and has historically been interpreted as a tectonic window exposing the lowest nappe of the Hellenides, the Basal Unit.

Superimposed Folding of the Precambrian Metamorphic Rocks of the Lutzow-Holm Bay Region, East Antarctica (Earth Sciences) [PDF]

open access: yes, 1976
The Lutzow-Holm Bay region (latitude 69°S ; longitude 38°E to 40°E) is located in the Prince Olav Coast of Enderby Land of East Antarctica, where crystalline basement rocks extensively occur under the glacial cover.

The Mg‐Fe Isotope Compositions and Geochemical Effects of Supercritical Fluids: Constraints From an Ultrahigh‐Pressure Eclogite‐Vein System in the Dabie Orogen

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 26, Issue 10, October 2025.
Abstract Supercritical fluids are ideal media for mass transfer from the subducting slab into the mantle wedge. However, little is known about the Mg‐Fe isotope compositions of supercritical fluids in subduction zones. Here, we present the Mg‐Fe isotope data for a coesite‐bearing eclogite‐vein system, which is closely associated with supercritical ...

Geochemistry and Petrogenesis of metabasites from the Gol-e-Gohar Complex in southern Sanandaj-Sirjan metamorphic zone, South of Iran; Evidences for crustal extension and magmatism at early Palaeozoic

open access: yesGeologica Acta, 2018
In Gol-e-Gohar metamorphic Complex from south-eastern Sanandaj-Sirjan metamorphic zone (Kerman province, Iran), there are two types of metabasites contain layered metamorphosed lava flows and the younger meta-gabbros.

The temporal and kinematic constraints on the early Alpine orogen: insights from Rb–Sr geochronology and geological mapping of the Avers nappe (Eastern Swiss-Alps)

open access: yesSwiss Journal of Geosciences
Understanding temporal shifts of thrust transport direction and the interplay between thrusting and normal faulting during mountain building is important for better understanding orogeny.
