Metabotropic Glutamate Receptors 7 within the Nucleus Accumbens are Involved in Relief Learning in Rats [PDF]
Relief learning is an appetitive association of a formally neutral cue with relief induced by the offset of an aversive stimulus. Since the nucleus accumbens mediates relief learning and accumbal metabotropic glutamate receptors 7 (mGluR7) modulate appetitive-like processes, we hypothesized that accumbal mGluR7 may be involved in the modulation of ...

Dopamine neurons have different synaptic actions in the ventral and dorsal striatum (dStr), but whether this heterogeneity extends to dStr subregions has not been addressed.

Contribution of Cystine-Glutamate Antiporters to the Psychotomimetic Effects of Phencyclidine [PDF]
Altered glutamate signaling contributes to a myriad of neural disorders, including schizophrenia. While synaptic levels are intensely studied, nonvesicular release mechanisms, including cystine–glutamate exchange, maintain high steady-state glutamate ...

Permissive role for mGlu1 metabotropic glutamate receptors in excitotoxic retinal degeneration [PDF]
Neuroprotection is an unmet need in eye disorders characterized by retinal ganglion cell (RGC) death, such as prematurity-induced retinal degeneration, glaucoma, and age-related macular degeneration.

N-acetyl-cysteine, a drug that enhances the endogenous activation of group-II metabotropic glutamate receptors, inhibits nociceptive transmission in humans. [PDF]
Emerging research seeking novel analgesic drugs focuses on agents targeting group-II metabotropic glutamate receptors (mGlu2 and mGlu3 receptors). N-Acetylcysteine (NAC) enhances the endogenous activation of mGlu2/3 receptors by activating the glial ...

The actin‐binding protein Filamin‐A interacts with the metabotropic glutamate receptor type 7 [PDF]
A yeast two‐hybrid screen identified Filamin‐A as a binding partner of the metabotropic glutamate receptor type 7b (mGluR7b) splice variant. In addition, Filamin‐A interacted with mGluR4a, mGluR5a, mGluR5b, mGluR7a and mGluR8a. Domain mapping revealed that alternative splicing of mGluR4, mGluR7 and mGluR8 C‐termini regulated the interaction.

The metabotropic glutamate receptor 7 (mGlu7) is a G protein–coupled receptor that has been recently linked to neurodevelopmental disorders. This association is supported by the identification of GRM7 variants in patients with autism spectrum disorder ...

Neuropharmacological targets for drug action in vestibular sensory pathways [PDF]
The use of pharmacological agents is often the preferred approach to the management of vestibular dysfunction. In the vestibular sensory pathways, the sensory neuroepithelia are thought to be influenced by a diverse number of neuroactive substances that ...
