In experiments on albino rats it was shown that a single (50, 100, 200 and 300 mg/kg) and prolonged (200 mg/kg) administration of metacine produced changes in the activity of carbohydrases (alpha-, gamma-amylases and saccharase) of the intestine. A preliminary treatment with the drug weakened changes in their activity observed during stress situations.

Methadone to treat chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (METACIN): study protocol
Pain ManagementRationale: Chronic chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) affects 70% of cancer patients, causing neuropathic pain. Duloxetine is the most recommended treatment for CIPN per most guidelines. However, Methadone, an alternative and effective treatment for refractory neuropathic cancer pain has been under-recognized and under-studied in ...

New anti-ulcer preparations, pirenzepine and telenzepine, are structurally dissimilar to the classical cholinomimetics, atropine and hyoscine (scopolamine). However, they are all capable of provoking paradoxical salivation from the chronically parasympathetically denervated human parotid gland.

The effect of a peripheral cholinolytic methacin on the activity of lipolytic enzymes of the pancreas and small intestine was studied on intact and stress-exposed animals. The drug was shown to induce certain changes in the activity of lipolytic enzymes.

General Pharmacology: The Vascular System, 1987
1. Chlorosyle, a modified asymmetric and somewhat heavier cholinolytic, produces a lower, by its level, paradoxical salivary effect in the human denervated parotid gland than atropine and metacine. 2. When chlorosyle acts in combination with atropine and metacine, the former inhibits the effect of the latter two and only the chlorosyle effect dominates.

Changes in the presystolic length in the phase of late diastole and in the size of active shortening in the phase of ejection were determined in the ischemic area and in areas of the myocardium bordering upon and in those remote from the focus of ischemia in acute experiments on the 20th and 60th seconds of reversible clamping of the coronary artery ...
