Pontogammarus Maeoticus Swarm Optimization: A Metaheuristic Optimization Algorithm
Nowadays, metaheuristic optimization algorithms are used to find the global optima in difficult search spaces. Pontogammarus Maeoticus Swarm Optimization (PMSO) is a metaheuristic algorithm imitating aquatic nature and foraging behavior. Pontogammarus Maeoticus, also called Gammarus in short, is a tiny creature found mostly in coast of Caspian Sea in ...

Abstract We address the scheduling conflicting jobs on parallel identical machines problem with makespan minimization, a classical and computationally challenging variant of parallel machine scheduling. We develop and evaluate three distinct solution methodologies: a novel constraint programming (CP) formulation, and two metaheuristics: a multi ...

Straddle carrier routing optimization at container terminals utilizing telemetry‐based prediction
Abstract Efficient vehicle routing and scheduling for horizontal transport means on container terminals can reduce lead times and travel distances, resulting in fuel savings and productivity gains. We apply machine learning to emulate operational processes, bridging the gap between theoretical optimization models and real‐world practices at container ...

Production routing decisions in a two‐echelon supply chain with multiple delivery modes
Abstract We study an original two‐echelon production routing problem with multiple delivery modes (2E‐PRP‐MDM). In the first echelon, the primary production facility is tasked with satisfying the demands of two distinct entities: a set of warehouses and a set of customers through direct shipments. In the second echelon, warehouses become delivery hubs,

A Metaheuristic Optimization Algorithm for Binary Quadratic Problems
Abstract This paper focuses on the formulation and solution of binary quadratic problems. A new metaheuristic approach is presented in order to acquire good solutions. Computational results show that the heuristic solver finds good solutions quite fast.

Abstract In most blood supply chains, blood centers and hospitals make individual decisions, resulting in an inefficient structure of the blood supply chain, which in turn renders supply and demand matching a challenging exercise. In this work, we make the very first attempt to optimize the interaction between blood centers and hospitals.
