Negative Impact of Dental Wastewater on the Environment and Human Health: A Scoping Review
Water Environment Research, Volume 97, Issue 12, December 2025.Dental wastewater (DWW) may carry hazardous contaminants (toxic metals, chemicals, and microorganisms) from clinical procedures into municipal sewers and wastewater treatment plants, with potential release to receiving waters. Because treatment may not fully remove all pollutants, the most effective prevention point is source control.
