A metal–air battery is composed of a metal electrode and an air electrode as negative and positive electrodes, respectively, and provides a large capacity and, hence, high energy density. Aqueous and nonaqueous electrolyte solutions are used depending on the kind of metal electrode material such as zinc, iron, aluminum, magnesium, or lithium.
