Strain-free thin film growth of vanadium dioxide deposited on 2D atomic layered material of hexagonal boron nitride investigated by their thickness dependence of insulator–metal transition behavior

open access: yesApplied Physics Express
We report on the preparation of vanadium dioxide (VO _2 ) ultrathin films on hexagonal boron nitride (hBN), which is a typical two-dimensional material, to show clear metal–insulator transition owing to weak van der Waals interaction at their surface. It

Direct Channel Implantation of B and BF2 Ions for Functional Control of Oxygen Vacancies in Oxide Semiconductor Thin Film Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Direct channel implantation of B and BF2 ions was employed to fabricate amorphous IGZO TFTs with improved electrical and stability properties. B and BF2 implantation modulate oxygen vacancies within the IGZO channel. The field‐effect mobility of ion‐implanted IGZO TFTs was enhanced as compared to pristine IGZO TFTs.

Giant Electrostriction in Halide Perovskites Revisited With Double‐Modulation Interferometry

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A giant electrostrictive effect in lead halide perovskites had been reported previously. This work uses sensitive interferometry to measure the electromechanical response of various halide perovskite samples. The results reveal no intrinsic electrostrictive compression. Instead, the materials expand primarily under an applied electric field as a result

Polarization‐Dependent Synaptic‐Like Electro‐Optical Response in Ferroelectric Nematic Liquid Crystals

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ferroelectric nematic liquid crystals (FNLCs) offer fast, tunable polarization and low‐voltage operation but suffer from poor polarization retention at zero field. Semiconductor‐modified FNLCs enhance polarization retention and exhibit short‐ and long‐term electro‐optical responses, while also supporting spike‐type signal integrations.

Tunable magnons of an antiferromagnetic Mott insulator via interfacial metal-insulator transitions

open access: yesNature Communications
Antiferromagnetic insulators present a promising alternative to ferromagnets due to their ultrafast spin dynamics essential for low-energy terahertz spintronic device applications.

Nanoscale Spatial Tuning of Superconductivity in Cuprate Thin Films via Direct Laser Writing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Maskless direct laser writing enables local control of oxygen stoichiometry in epitaxial YBCO thin films under ambient conditions. Sub‐micrometer grayscale patterns with tunable optical response and superconducting transport properties are achieved.
