Black Soldier Fly (Hermetia illucens L.) larvae as a sustainable protein source for animal feed

open access: yesЖивотновъдни науки
Black soldier fly (Hermetia illucens L., Diptera: Stratiomyidae) larvae (BSFL) farming offers a dual solution for Africa by converting organic waste into nutrient-rich protein for animal feed and organic fertiliser (frass), addressing urban waste ...

Micro and Nanostructural Diversity of Lizard Osteoderm Capping Tissue in Relation to Mechanical Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study shows that lizard osteoderm capping tissue is a hyper‐mineralized hydroxyapatite layer consistently covering the superficial osteoderm surface in those species studied here, yet it varies greatly in morphology, nanostructure, and mechanical performance across species.

Global trends and characteristics of metal–organic frameworks in cancer research: a machine-learning-based bibliometric analysis

open access: yesDiscover Oncology
Background Cancer poses a significant health threat, causing millions of deaths annually. Although chemotherapy-based comprehensive therapies are common, their low accuracy and severe side effects limit effectiveness.

Deterministic hBN Bubbles as a Versatile Platform for Studies on Single‐Photon Emitters

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Single‐photon emitters (SPEs) in hBN are promising for quantum technologies; however, in exfoliated samples their activation is required, limiting reproducibility of previous studies. This work introduces a large‐area MOVPE‐grown hBN platform that hosts SPEs without prior activation.

Fluorine‐Free Soft Nanocomposites for High‐Speed Liquid Impact Repellence

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Fluorine‐free soft nanocomposite coatings are developed using silicone oil‐mediated mechanical‐stiffness control, enabling ‘dry’ liquid‐repellent surfaces that resist high‐speed water jet impacts up to ∼60 m/s. By tuning nanoparticle loading and oil content, the coatings also achieve >90% optical transparency, amphiphobicity with impact resistance to ...

A systematic review on life cycle assessment (LCA) of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and MXenes

open access: yesDiscover Chemistry
Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is increasingly recognized as an effective tool for evaluating the environmental sustainability of emerging chemicals. While metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and MXenes show exceptional functional properties for applications ...

Drug‐Free Thrombolysis Mediated by Physically Activated Micro/Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Overview of particle‐mediated thrombolytic effects (thermal, mechanical, and chemical) and their activating physical stimuli (light, ultrasound, and magnetic field) in drug‐free thrombolysis. ABSTRACT Thrombus‐associated disorders rank among the world's leading causes of death, with ischemic heart disease and stroke as the main contributors.
