Combining microfluidic paper-based platform and metal–organic frameworks in a single device for phenolic content assessment in fruits

open access: yesMicrochimica Acta, 2023
AbstractA microfluidic paper-based device (µPAD) has been combined with metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) for total phenolic compounds (TPC) quantification in fruit samples for the first time. The performance of the µPAD, based upon the vertical flow approach, was enhanced in order to determine the TPC content with high accuracy in fruit samples.

Double role of metalloporphyrins in catalytic bioinspired supramolecular metal–organic frameworks (SMOFs)

open access: yesIUCrJ, 2018
Heterogeneous catalysts are of great interest in many industrial processes for environmental reasons and, during recent years, a great effort has been devoted to obtain metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) with improved catalytic behaviour. Few supramolecular

Cadmium Uptake by Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.): An Overview

open access: yesPlants, 2020
Cadmium is a toxic heavy metal that may be detected in soils and plants. Wheat, as a food consumed by 60% of the world’s population, may uptake a high quantity of Cd through its roots and translocate Cd to the shoots and grains thus posing risks to human

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status
