Comparative evaluation of effect of laser on shear bond strength of ceramic bonded with two base metal alloys: An in-vitro study

open access: yesIndian Journal of Dental Research, 2013
The most common clinical failure in metal ceramic restoration is at the ceramo-metal interface. For the clinical longevity, metal-ceramic prostheses must have satisfactory bond strength between metal and ceramic. Aim and Objective: The aim of this study

Metal-ceramic interfaces in laser coated aluminium alloys [PDF]

open access: yesActa Metallurgica et Materialia, 1994
A novel process was developed to firmly coat an aluminium alloy, Al6061, with α-Al2O3 by means of laser processing. In this approach a mixture of SiO2 and Al powder was used to inject in the laser melted surface of aluminium. A reaction product α-Al2O3 layer of a thickness of 100 µm was created which was well bonded to the aluminium surface.

Properties of test metal ceramic titanium alloys

open access: yesThe Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1992
Four test alloys were prepared using a high frequency centrifugal casting machine and a ceramic crucible for the development of titanium bonding alloys that can be cast in the ordinary atmosphere. Of these alloys, 10.06% Ti, 78.79% Ni, 9.02% Pd, 1.77% Sn and 9.91% Ti, 78.56% Ni, 9.07% Pd, 1.86% Sn, 0.65% Ir could be cast by the conventional high ...

Discrepancy in alloy composition of imported and non-imported porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM) crowns produced by Norwegian dental laboratories

open access: yesBiomaterial Investigations in Dentistry, 2020
Purpose Even though the use of full ceramic crowns have become a well-established practice in dental clinics compare to the last decade, the use of imported casted porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFMs) crowns is still prevalent.
