Comparative Analysis of Lead Ions and Ammonium Salts in Malachite Sulfurization-Assisted Flotation Based on Surface Layer Durability

open access: yesMetals
Sulfurization-assisted flotation is a key process that uses sulfur compounds to modify mineral surfaces, enhancing hydrophobicity and flotation efficiency, especially for copper oxide minerals.

Exploring the ternary interactions in Cu–ZnO–ZrO2 catalysts for efficient CO2 hydrogenation to methanol

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
Despite great efforts, the reaction mechanism of CO2 hydrogenation to methanol and the nature of the active sites on Cu–ZnO–ZrO2 (CZZ) catalysts are still under debate. Herein, the authors report the interactions among the three components in controlling

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Surface Atom Motion to Move Iron Nanocrystals through Constrictions in Carbon Nanotubes under the Action of an Electric Current

open access: yes, 2013
Under the application of electrical currents, metal nanocrystals inside carbon nanotubes can be bodily transported. We examine experimentally and theoretically how an iron nanocrystal can pass through a constriction in the carbon nanotube with a smaller ...

Phytic Acid-Metal Complexes.

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1965
SummarySodium phytate corresponding to a formula of C6H6O24P6Na12 · 3H2O (formula weight 977.8) was titrated against metal ions and in each case an inflection in the titration curve was obtained when 5 moles of a divalent metal ion had been added per mole sodium phytate.

Thermoreflectance Detection of Point Defects Resulting from Focused Ion Beam Milling

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Focused ion beam (FIB) milling is a common tool for nanoscale material processing, however irradiation damage, redeposition, and contamination can occur. We use several characterization tools to show FIB‐induced effects beyond 1 mm from the milled area.

Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for
