Progress in Hexagonal Boron Nitride (h-BN)-Based Solid-State Neutron Detector
This article will briefly review the progress of h-BN based solid-state metal semiconductor metal (MSM) neutron detectors. In the last decade, several groups have been working on hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN)-based solid-state neutron detectors ...

Temperature dependent asymmetry of the nonlocal spin-injection resistance: evidence for spin non-conserving interface scattering [PDF]
We report nonlocal spin injection and detection experiments on mesoscopic Co-Al2O3-Cu spin valves. We have observed a temperature dependent asymmetry in the nonlocal resistance between parallel and antiparallel configurations of the magnetic injector and

Heterodyne holographic microscopy of gold particles [PDF]
We report experimental results on heterodyne holographic microscopy of subwavelength-sized gold particles. The apparatus uses continuous green laser illumination of the metal beads in a total internal reflection configuration for dark-field operation ...

Metal-germanium-metal ultrafast infrared detectors [PDF]
We demonstrate silicon-based ultrafast metal-semiconductor-metal (MSM) photodetectors for near infrared optocommunication wavelengths. They show a response time of 12.5 ps full width at half maximum (FWHM) at both 1300 and 1550 nm wavelengths. The overall external quantum efficiencies are 13% at 1320 nm and 7.5% at 1550 nm.

Prosthetic metal implants and airport metal detectors [PDF]
Introduction Metal detectors have been present in airports and points of departure for some time. With the introduction of heightened security measures in response to fears of an increased threat of terrorism, they may become more prevalent in other public locations.

Ground compensation in pulse induction metal detectors
Metal Detectors play an important role especiallyon determining the properties of objects buried in the soil. Groundcompensation is necessary to minimize the faulty warning signals in metaldetectors caused by the mineral structure of the soil.
