Metal-enhanced e-type fluorescence [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Physics Letters, 2008
In this letter, we report metal-enhanced e-type fluorescence. Eosin in close proximity to silver island films (SiFs) shows enhanced e-type fluorescence with an approximately two-fold higher intensity observed from SiFs, as compared to a control sample. Our findings suggest two complementary mechanisms for the enhancement: surface plasmons can radiate e-

Metal-enhanced excimer (P-type) fluorescence [PDF]

open access: yesChemical Physics Letters, 2008
In this Letter, we report the first observation of metal-enhanced excimer (P-type) fluorescence from pyrene. Pyrene in close proximity to silver island films (SIFs) shows enhanced pyrene excimer emission with a ?2.5-fold higher emission intensity observed from SIFs and 5×10?3M pyrene, as compared to a quartz control sample containing no silver ...

Metal-Enhanced Fluorescence of Carbon Nanotubes [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the American Chemical Society, 2010
The photoluminescence (PL) quantum yield of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) is relatively low, with various quenching effects by metallic species reported in the literature. Here, we report the first case of metal enhanced fluorescence (MEF) of surfactant-coated carbon nanotubes on nanostructured gold substrates.

Metal-enhanced fluorescence: The role of quantum yield, Q, in enhanced fluorescence

open access: yesApplied Physics Letters, 2012
Metal-enhanced fluorescence has attracted enormous research and commercial interest in recent years, due to the ability to significantly enhance fluorescence signatures in the near-field as well as protect fluorophores against photobleaching. In this article, we address one of the major unresolved questions, whether far-field fluorophore quantum yield,

Metal-Enhanced Fluorescence of Nanocomplexes. [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials (Basel)
Metal-enhanced fluorescence (MEF) has found widespread application in biomedical sensing and in vivo tissue imaging systems. To enhance MEF efficiency, it is necessary to optimize the interaction between metal nanoparticle plasmon and the fluorophore molecule.

Enhanced fluorescence by metal nanospheres on metal substrates [PDF]

open access: yesOptics Letters, 2009
We investigate the metal enhanced fluorescence by silver nanospheres on a thin silver substrate. Experimental measurements for core/shell colloidal nanocrystals embedded in a polymer matrix show a fluorescence enhancement factor of about 9. We apply the discrete dipole approximation method to describe the local-field enhancement factor (LFEF).

Zinc oxide nanostructures for fluorescence and Raman signal enhancement: a review

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Nanotechnology, 2022
Since the initial discovery of surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) and surface-enhanced fluorescence (SEF), these techniques have shown huge potential for applications in biomedicine, biotechnology, and optical sensors. Both methods rely on the high

Effect of Silver Nanoparticles on Fluorescence Intensity of Fluoreseina Dye Mixed in One Solution

open access: yesIraqi Journal of Physics, 2021
Metal enhanced fluorescence (MEF) is an unequaled phenomenon of metal nanoparticle surface plasmons, when light interacts with the metal nanostructures (silver nanoparticles) which result electromagnetic fields to promote the sensitivity of fluorescence.

Metal particle-enhanced fluorescent immunoassays on metal mirrors [PDF]

open access: yesAnalytical Biochemistry, 2007
We present fluoroimmunoassays on plain metal-coated surfaces (metal mirrors) enhanced by metal nanoparticles (silver island films [SIFs]). Metal mirrors (aluminum, gold, or silver protected with a thin silica layer) were coated with SIFs, and an immunoassay (model assay for rabbit immunoglobulin G or myoglobin immunoassay) was performed on this surface
