Metal-enhanced fluorescence exciplex emission

Spectrochimica Acta Part A: Molecular and Biomolecular Spectroscopy, 2012
In this letter, we report the first observation of metal-enhanced exciplex fluorescence, observed from anthracene in the presence of diethylaniline. Anthracene in the presence of diethylaniline in close proximity to Silver Island Films (SIFs) shows enhanced monomer and exciplex emission as compared to a non-silvered control sample containing no silver ...

Low Temperature Metal-Enhanced Fluorescence

Journal of Fluorescence, 2007
In this short letter, we describe the effects of low temperature on the Metal-Enhanced Fluorescence (MEF) phenomenon. Fluorophores close to Silver Island Films (SiFs) show on average two- to ten-fold enhancements in their fluorescence signatures at room temperature.

Fluorescence enhancement for noble metal nanoclusters

Advances in Colloid and Interface Science, 2017
Noble metal nanoclusters have attracted great attentions in the area of fluorescence related applications due to their special properties such as low toxicity, excellent photostability and bio-compatibility. However, they still describe disadvantages for low quantum yield compared to quantum dots and organic dyes though the brightness of the ...

Voltage-Gated Metal-Enhanced Fluorescence

Journal of Fluorescence, 2009
We demonstrate the influence of electrical current on the ability of surface plasmons to amplify fluorescence signatures. An applied direct current across Silver Island Films (SIFs) of low electrical resistance perturbs the fluorescence enhancement.

Metal-Enhanced Fluorescence from Plastic Substrates [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Fluorescence, 2005
We report the first findings of Metal-Enhanced Fluorescence (MEF) from modified plastic substrates. In the past several years our laboratories have reported the favorable effects of fluorophores in close proximity to silver nanoparticles. These effects include, enhanced fluorescence intensities, (increased detectability), and reduced lifetimes ...

Editorial: Metal-Enhanced Fluorescence

Journal of Fluorescence, 2002
As fluorescence spectroscopists we are mostly all yields, decreased lifetimes, increased photostability, and familiar with doing spectroscopy in bulk samples, where an increase in Forster transfer distances and directional the solutions are typically transparent to the emitted radia- emission.

Fluorescence enhancement aided by metal ion displacement

Biosensors and Bioelectronics, 2016
Immunosensors are one of the most common platform used in clinical laboratories, in particular the class based on Enzyme Linked Fluorescent Assays (ELFA) takes advantage of the amplification step of the enzyme, usually the alkaline phosphatase, that catalyzes the hydrolysis of a fluorescent substrate leading it to fluoresce.

Noble-Metal Surfaces for Metal-Enhanced Fluorescence

2004
Noble metal nanoparticles exhibit strong absorption bands, which known as the surface plasmon resonances, result in strong absorption and scattering, and create an enhanced local electromagnetic field near-to the surface of the particles. The surface plasmon resonances are highly dependent on the size and the shape of the metal and the dielectric ...
