The long standing issue of increased heat transfer, always accompanied by increased pressure drop using metal foams, is addressed in the present work. Heat transfer and pressure drop, both of various magnitudes, can be observed in respect to various flow

The Influence of Alloy Composition and Liquid Phase on Foaming of Al−Si−Mg Alloys [PDF]
The foaming behaviour of aluminium alloys processed by the powder compaction technique depends crucially on the exact alloy composition. The AlSi8Mg4 alloy has been in use for a decade now, and it has been claimed that this composition lies in an “island

Poro-Serrated trailing edge devices for airfoil self-noise reduction [PDF]
This paper represents the continuation of the works previously published in Chong et al. (“Self-Noise Produced by an Airfoil with Nonflat Plate Trailing-Edge Serrations,” AIAA Journal, Vol. 51, No. 11, 2013, pp. 2665–2677), who used several nonflat plate

Trailing Edge Noise Reduction by Passive and Active Flow Controls [PDF]
This paper presents the results on the use of porous metal foams (passive control) and dielectric barrier surface plasma actuations (active control) for the reduction of vortex shedding tonal noises from the nonflat plate type trailing edge serration in ...

Effect of strain rate on the yielding mechanism of amorphous metal foam [PDF]
Stochastic amorphous Pd_(43)Ni_(10)Cu_(27)P_(20) foams were tested in quasistatic and dynamic loading. The strength/porosity relations show distinct slopes for the two loading conditions, suggesting a strain-rate-induced change in the foam yielding ...

The bulk glass forming alloy Pd43Ni10Cu27P20 is processed into a low-density amorphous metallic foam. Pd43Ni10Cu27P20 is mixed with hydrated B2O3, which releases gas at elevated temperature and/or low pressure. Very homogeneous foams are achieved due to the high viscosity of the alloy even at its liquidus temperature.

Mechanical behavior of open-cell aluminium foams filled with tin-bronze foams
The interior pore of open-cell aluminium foams filled with bronze foams is a new method of preparing aluminium foams composite. The voids of bronze foams were fabricated by in situ thermal decomposition of space-holder in a powder metallurgical sintering
