THE CASIMIR FORCE BETWEEN METALLIC MIRRORS [PDF]

open access: yesThe Ninth Marcel Grossmann Meeting, 2002
In order to compare recent experimental results with theoretical predictions we study the influence of finite conductivity of metals on the Casimir effect. The correction to the Casimir force and energy due to imperfect reflection and finite temperature are evaluated for plane metallic plates where the dielectric functions of the metals are modeled by ...

Metal Mirror from Baraba

open access: yesTeoriya i praktika arkheologicheskikh issledovaniy, 2016
The article presents the circumstances of discovery in the territory of the Baraba forest-steppe (near Lake Wait, Karagatskom in the Novosibirsk region) of a metal mirror, heavily coated with oxides. The find has been subjected to the restoration at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences ...

Measurement and correction of two-sided freeform optical elements with combined tactile-optical metrology equipment [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2019
Freeform optical elements are state of the art for several years to fabricate very high performance optical systems with the necessity of, e.g., strong folding in mirror system or correction of typical asymmetric aberrations in mirror systems as well as ...

FDTD Simulation and Quantitative Analysis of Dipole Mirror Effect

open access: yesTaiyuan Ligong Daxue xuebao, 2022
The local plasma resonance of noble metal nanoparticles can significantly enhance the visible light response of wide bandgap semiconductors, but the absorption coefficient of noble metal nanoparticles with small volume and strong scattering is low, which

MMI resonators based on metal mirrors and MMI mirrors: an experimental comparison

open access: yesOptics Express, 2015
We report, to the best of our knowledge, the first experimental proof of MMI-based resonators. The resonators have been designed and fabricated on a micron-scale silicon photonics platform and are based on different reflectors suitably placed on two of the four ports of 2x2 MMIs with uneven splitting ratios, namely 85:15 and 72:28.

A Method for the Installation Measurement and Alignment of a Mirror Unit in the Solar Dish Concentrator

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
The mirror unit installation error of the solar parabolic dish concentrator can adversely affect its optical performance causing optical intercept losses and hot spots on the absorber surface, which in turn affect safety.

Electrodeposition of mirror surface β-W films in molten CsF–CsCl–WO3

open access: yesElectrochemistry Communications, 2021
In this study we report, for the first time, a thick β-W film with a mirror-like surface prepared through electrodeposition involving a CsF–CsCl eutectic melt combined with 2.0 mol% of WO3 at 773 K.

Suppression method for rebound amount of the internal mirror model of an SLR camera

open access: yesMechanical Engineering Journal, 2015
In this study, the rebound vibration characteristics of the internal mirror of an SLR camera are investigated using experimental models. The mechanism of the mirror rebound phenomena is tested by using four types of rectangular metal plate models.

Plasmonic metamaterial using metal-insulator-metal nanogratings for high-sensitive refraction index sensor

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2019
We propose two designs of plasmonic metamaterial mid-infrared (MIR) sensors, which are composed of metallic nanograting on SiO2 layer with a bottom mirror to form metal–insulator-metal (MIM) configurations.

Optical magnetic mirrors without metals

open access: yesOptica, 2014
The reflection of an optical wave from a metal, arising from strong interactions between the optical electric field and the free carriers of the metal, is accompanied by a phase reversal of the reflected electric field. A far less common route to achieve high reflectivity exploits strong interactions between the material and the optical magnetic field ...
