Advanced piezoresistance of extended metal/insulator core shell nanoparticle assemblies [PDF]
Assembled metal/insulator nanoparticles with a core/shell geometry provide access to materials containing a large number (>106) of tunneling barriers. We demonstrate the production of ceramic coated metal nanoparticles exhibiting an exceptional pressure sensitive conductivity.

The Antioxidant Effect of the Metal and Metal-Oxide Nanoparticles
Inorganic nanoparticles, such as CeO3, TiO2 and Fe3O4 could be served as a platform for their excellent performance in antioxidant effect. They may offer the feasibility to be further developed for their smaller and controllable sizes, flexibility to be modified, relative low toxicity as well as ease of preparation. In this work, the recent progress of

Development of theoretical descriptors for cytotoxicity evaluation of metallic nanoparticles [PDF]
Motivated by the recent development of quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) methods in the area of nanotoxicology, we proposed an approach to develop additional descriptors based on results of first principles calculations. For evaluation of the biochemical activity of metallic nanoparticles, we consider two processes: ion extraction ...

Plasmofluidic Single-Molecule Surface Enhanced Raman Scattering from Dynamic Assembly of Plasmonic Nanoparticles [PDF]
Single-molecule surface enhanced Raman scattering (SM-SERS) is one of the vital applications of plasmonic nanoparticles. The SM-SERS sensitivity critically depends on plasmonic hot-spots created at the vicinity of such nanoparticles. In conventional fluid-phase SM-SERS experiments, plasmonic hot-spots are facilitated by chemical aggregation of ...

Burn Time of Metal Nanoparticles [PDF]
This article will discuss the combustion of metal nanoparticles and explain the burn time dependence on particle size. In contrary to common belief in the power law (tb~d0.3), which, in our knowledge, is simply an experimental fit to data, we propose the logarithmic law (tb~ln(d)) that describes well the known results on nano-aluminum combustion.

Optical properties of metal nanoparticles with arbitrary shapes [PDF]
We have studied the optical properties of metallic nanoparticles with arbitrary shape. We performed theoretical calculations of the absorption, extinction and scattering efficiencies, which can be directly compared with experiments, using the Discrete Dipole Approximation (DDA).
