Oxidation on Metal Oxide Surfaces

1968
The redn. of transition metal oxides and of SnO2 + Sb2O3 by 1-butene and butadiene was investigated. A single parameter Qo, defined as the heat necessary to dissociate 0.5 O2 from the oxide, detd. the type of reaction. Starting from Q0 = 17 (MnO2) and proceeding to Q0 = 70 (SnO2), the redn. produces; CO2 -> (oxygenated products) -> butadiene ->

Monolithic Metal Oxide Transistors

ACS Nano, 2015
We devised a simple transparent metal oxide thin film transistor architecture composed of only two component materials, an amorphous metal oxide and ion gel gate dielectric, which could be entirely assembled using room-temperature processes on a plastic substrate. The geometry cleverly takes advantage of the unique characteristics of the two components.

Parabolic oxidation of metals to metal deficit oxides

Oxidation of Metals, 1969
A stepwise mechanism is outlined for diffusion-controlled oxidation of a metal Me to a metal deficit oxide Me3−zO, where z is the normal valence of Me in Me3−zO and may equal either 1 or 2. Specifically, oxidation is postulated to occur by (1) chemisorption of a singly ionized oxygen atom O− on the oxide surface with the concomitant formation of an ...

Oxidation of Metal Surfaces

Science, 2002
Metal oxidation is often unwanted--for example, in the case of corrosion--but under controlled conditions the oxidation of metals can be beneficial for the manufacture and performance of advanced materials9. In their Perspective, Over and Seitsonen provide a brief overview of the complex oxidation behavior of metal surfaces.

Metal oxide monolithic columns

Journal of Chromatography A, 2005
Metal oxide monoliths composed of ZrO2 and HfO2 have been synthesized in situ inside capillary columns. The material shows globular-like structure and through pores. Capillary electrochromatography and capillary liquid chromatography were performed in a monolithic column with the HfO2 material. Separation of a simple sample mixture showed the potential

Half-metallic transition metal oxides

Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 2004
Abstract We present an application of the self-interaction corrected local spin density approximation to study the electronic structure of half-metallic double perovskites Ba 2 FeMoO 6 , Ca 2 FeMoO 6 , Sr 2 FeMoO 6 , Ca 2 FeReO 6 , and charge order in Fe 3 O 4 .

Surface Metal-Oxide-Silicon-Oxide-Metal Picosecond Photodetector

1982
Recently there has been increased effort on the development of high speed photodetectors with ultimate response time down to the picosecond range. We have recently implemented a metaloxide-silicon-oxide-metal junction photodetector having a surface structure as shown diagrammatically in Figure la [1].

Metal-catalyzed asymmetric oxidations

Medicinal Research Reviews, 1999
Recent advances in enantioselective metal-catalyzed oxidations are presented. Two transformations are discussed in detail: (a) asymmetric Baeyer-Villiger reactions of racemic and prochiral cyclic ketones giving optically active lactones, and (b) sulfide oxidations affording enantiomerically enriched sulfoxides.

Semiconducting transition metal oxides

Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter, 2015
Open shell transition metal oxides are usually described as Mott or charge transfer insulators, which are often viewed as being disparate from semiconductors. Based on the premise that the presence of a correlated gap and semiconductivity are not mutually exclusive, this work reviews electronic structure calculations on the binary 3d oxides, so to ...
