The Effective Particle-Hole Interaction and the Optical Response of Simple Metal Clusters

open access: yes, 1995
Following Sham and Rice [L. J. Sham, T. M. Rice, Phys. Rev. 144 (1966) 708] the correlated motion of particle-hole pairs is studied, starting from the general two-particle Greens function.

Metal particle manipulation by laser irradiation in borosilicate glass.

open access: yesOptics Express, 2010
We propose a new technique of manipulating a metal particle in borosilicate glass. A metal particle that is heated by laser illumination heats the surrounding glass by radiation and conduction. A softened glass enabled metal particle migration.

METHODS OF CALCULATING METAL REMOVAL UNDER HYDROABRASIVE TREATMENT

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Research, 2011
Single interaction of an abrasive particle and the work surface under hydroabrasive treatment is considered. Theoretical investigation of the metal removal is carried out.

Permanent magnetic moment in mesoscopic metals with spin-orbit interaction

open access: yes, 2000
We argue that at zero temperature an isolated metal particle (or an AB ring) with spin-orbit interaction and odd number of electrons will have a permanent magnetic moment, even in zero magnetic field (flux).

Submicron Particles during Macro- and Micro-Weldings Procedures in Industrial Indoor Environments and Health Implications for Welding Operators

open access: yesMetals, 2015
One of the emerging risks in the engineering and electronic industries is the exposure of workers to ultrafine particles during (micro-)welding operations, i.e., processes used for joining two metal parts heated locally, which constitute the base metal,

Models for Metal Hydride Particle Shape, Packing, and Heat Transfer

open access: yes, 2012
A multiphysics modeling approach for heat conduction in metal hydride powders is presented, including particle shape distribution, size distribution, granular packing structure, and effective thermal conductivity.

Influence of Fine Metal Particles on Surface Discharge Characteristics of Outdoor Insulators

open access: yesEnergies, 2016
Focusing on the influence of fine metal particles on the insulation characteristics of outdoor insulators, spherical micrometer-level iron powders were used to represent fine metal particles of different parameters on a polymer insulator specimen surface.

Dynamics of fine particles due to quantized vortices on the surface of superfluid $^4$He

open access: yes, 2018
Peculiar dynamics of a free surface of the superfluid 4He has been observed experimentally with a newly established technique utilizing a number of electrically charged fine metal particles trapped electrically at the surface by Moroshkin et al.
