Electric polarizability of small metal particles
Physical Review B, 1990A semiclassical theory of collective excitations based on the Vlasov equation is applied to the study of surface oscillations in small alkali-metal spheres. It is found that, when due allowance is made for the electron ``spill-out'' and for the exchange-correlation part of the electron-electron interaction, the polarizabilities given by the ...

Optical trapping of metallic Rayleigh particles
Optics Letters, 1994Metallic objects reflect light and have generally been considered poor candidates for optical traps, particularly with optical tweezers, which rely on a gradient force to provide trapping. We demonstrate that stable trapping can occur with optical tweezers when they are used with small metallic Rayleigh particles.

Optical trapping of microscopic metal particles
Optics Letters, 1994The optical trapping of microscopic metal particles with a fixed Nd:YAG laser beam of TEM00 and TEM01* modes is demonstrated. Three kinds of metal particles (bronze, silver, and gold) used in the experiments were trapped two-dimensionally only when the laser beam focus was located near the bottom of the particle.

Polymer-metal composite particles: Metal particles on poly(St-co-MAA) microspheres
Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2000Poly(styrene-co-methacrylic acid) P(St-co-MAA) microspheres with a monodisperse size distribution were prepared by emulsifier-free emulsion copolymerization of St and MAA. The effects of MAA content on the polymerization rate and the content of MAA in the copolymer were investigated by gravimetrical and IR methods, respectively.

Synthesis of Metallic and Metal Oxide Particles
2019The diversity of applications in catalysis, energy storage and medical diagnostics utilizes unique and fascinating properties of metal and metal oxide nanostructures. Confined to the nanometer scale, materials may display properties that are different from the equivalent bulk compounds.
