Clinical Orthopaedics & Related Research, 2003
In the majority of patients, orthopaedic implants are biocompatible. However, there is an increasing recognition that, in the long-term, permanent orthopaedic implants may be associated with adverse local and remote tissue responses in some individuals. These adverse effects are mediated by the degradation products of implant materials.

Hacinebi Metal Production and Exchange
Paléorient, 1999Excavations from the pre-Uruk levels at Hacinebi yielded a complete repertoire of archaeometallurgical finds including ores, slags, crucible fragments with accretions, molds, a tuyere, metal artifacts, as well as a multi-furnace metal workshop. The highly advanced metal technology at Hacinebi is in accordance with other Late Chalcolithic local ...

Metal Catalysis of Indole Production
Nature, 1949THE production of indole from tryptophan by the action of copper sulphate and 9 per cent (w/v) sodium hydroxide was reported by Herzfeld1 and confirmed by Baker, Dawes and Happold2 in an attempt to elucidate the mechanism of the tryptophanase enzyme system of Esch. coli3. Catalysis of indole production was shown to occur with copper and cobalt, but not

Production of Metal Nanopowders by Sonoelectrochemistry
MRS Proceedings, 1994AbstractMetal powders with a diameter ranging from 20 to 50 micrometers are currently produced by electrolysis at high current density in aqueous electrolytes. A lot of research is then devoted to produce by electrolysis and with a high yield, ultrafine metal powders.

Optimization of Sheet Metal Products
2006Linear flow splitting enables the forming of branched sheet metal products in integral style. To optimize those products design parameters have to be based on market requirements. We show that methods that are also used in Operations Research can, in principle, be applied to solve these optimization problems.
