Divergent Access to Fluorinated Pharmacons From Ethyl Trifluoropyruvate

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, Volume 368, Issue 7, 1 April 2026.
Fluoro(oxo) functional group diversification is traditionally accomplished through either specialized reagents or nucleophilic trifluoromethylation. Herein is disclosed the use of commercially available building blocks for the synthesis of trifluoromethyl(hydroxy) esters.

Efficacy of Zinc‐, Copper‐, and Silver‐Doped Fluorapatite as Bacteriophobic Surfaces for Percutaneous Osseointegrated Device Applications

open access: yesChemNanoMat, Volume 12, Issue 4, April 2026.
Metal doped fluorapatite coatings are synthesized using a precipitation method, formed into sintered discs, and then structural and microstructural characteristics are confirmed. Subsequently, surfaces are assessed for Staphylococcus aureus adhesion and keratinocyte cytocompatibility.

Characterization of Volatile Organic Compounds and Warmed‐Over Flavor in Flat Peach Juice Through Thermal and Nonthermal Sterilization Using Integrated Flavoromics and Multivariate Analysis

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 4, April 2026.
Flat peach juice was subjected to thermal sterilization (high‐temperature sterilization and pasteurization) and nonthermal sterilization (high hydrostatic pressure and microwave sterilization). Volatile profiles and sensory attributes were characterized using HS–GC–IMS, HS–SPME–GC–MS, and bionic sensory evaluation.

Ferrographic and spectrographic analysis of oil sampled before and after failure of a jet engine [PDF]

open access: yes
An experimental gas turbine engine was destroyed as a result of the combustion of its titanium components. Several engine oil samples (before and after the failure) were analyzed with a Ferrograph as well as plasma, atomic absorption, and emission ...

Comparison of Structural Diagnosis and Management Approach Versus Myofascial Release for Plantar Heel Pain in People With Diabetes Mellitus: A Multicenter Randomized Clinical Trial Protocol

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Plantar heel pain (PHP) is prevalent among individuals with diabetes mellitus and contributes to chronic pain, reduced mobility, muscle weakness, and activity limitation. Conventional treatments such as medications and physical modalities are used but often lack long‐term effectiveness and cost‐efficiency.

The Individual and Combined Effects of Warming and Atrazine on Lithobates pipiens Phenotypes: Implications for Frog Declines

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Zoology Part A: Ecological and Integrative Physiology, Volume 345, Issue 3, Page 238-258, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Amphibians are the most threatened vertebrate class globally. Climate change, agrochemicals, and/or pathogens and parasites are implicated in contributing to amphibian declines, either singly or in combination. We investigated individual and combined effects of elevated temperatures and atrazine (2.0 μg/L) on Lithobates [formerly Rana] pipiens

Factors Influencing Undesirable Sensory Properties in Protein Hydrolysates and Remediation Strategies for Food Applications

open access: yesJournal of Food Science, Volume 91, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Enzymatic hydrolysis is used to produce protein hydrolysates from animal‐ and plant‐based sources, which are widely utilized in industry due to their nutritional, functional, and bioactive properties. However, these hydrolysates can exhibit unattractive sensory properties, such as off‐flavors or off‐odors, which limit their use in food ...
