Method of making contamination-free ceramic bodies [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
Ceramic structures having high strength at temperatures above 1000 C after sintering are made by mixing ceramic powders with binder deflocculants such as guanidine salts of polymeric acids, guanidine salts of aliphatic organic carboxylic acids or ...

The Fusion of Elemental Sulfur With Waste Cooking Oil‐Based Derivatives: Beyond Renewability

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Lipid Science and Technology, EarlyView.
The fuse of two waste streams, elemental sulfur and waste cooking oil, is enabled by Inverse Vulcanization. The process might ensure the closed‐loop production of polymeric materials for a wide range of applications, beyond its sole potential renewability.

Dynamical Behaviour of a Soap Film Bridge Driven by an Electrostatic Force [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
We study a free boundary problem describing a tubular soap film bridge driven by an electrostatic force. To realize the electrostatic force, the soap film bridge is placed inside an outer metal cylinder and a voltage difference between this cylinder and the soap film is applied.

Photometric Stereo by UV-Induced Fluorescence to Detect Protrusions on Georgia O'Keeffe's Paintings [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
A significant number of oil paintings produced by Georgia O'Keeffe (1887-1986) show surface protrusions of varying width, up to several hundreds of microns. These protrusions are similar to those described in the art conservation literature as metallic soaps.

From the Plateau problem to periodic minimal surfaces in lipids, surfactants and diblock copolymers

open access: yes, 1996
We present the novel method for generation of periodic surfaces based on the simple Landau-Ginzburg model of microemulsion. We test the method on four minimal surfaces (P,D,G, and I-WP), find two new surfaces of cubic symmetry, show how to obtain ...

Non‐Classical Nitrogen Promoters for Rhodium‐Catalyzed Reductive Hydroformylation: New Efficient Way to Access Polyols From Linseed Oil

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Lipid Science and Technology, EarlyView.
The reductive hydroformylation of linseed oil was carried out using a rhodium precursor associated with various nitrogen derivatives such as pyridines, imidazoles, trialkylamines, amidines, and guanidines. ABSTRACT The reductive hydroformylation reaction of polyunsaturated linseed oil using a rhodium precursor associated with a nitrogen compound from ...

A modified mean curvature flow in Euclidean space and soap bubbles in symmetric spaces [PDF]

open access: yesGeometriae Dedicata vol. 195 (2018) 1-17, 2015
In this paper, we show that small spherical soap bubbles in irreducible simply connected symmetric spaces of rank greater than one are constructed from the limits of a certain kind of modified mean curvature flows starting from small spheres in the Euclidean space of dimension equal to the rank of the symmetric space, where we note that the small ...

Preparation of Fatty Amides from Metal Soaps Under Microwave Irradiation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
An efficient, high yield method of preparation of pure fatty amides was found through this research. from the 3 - reactant system that consists of fatty sodium soap, a source o f ammonia (or amine) and ammonium chloride, the fatty amides were formed ...
