Metal transfer in the sliding process
Wear, 1988Abstract Metal transfer, during mutual sliding of steel and aluminum alloys, was studied using a model experiment. The model imitated sliding conditions which occur in metalworking operations: high load and short sliding distances. It allowed access to the aluminum-steel contact area without breaking the contact.

Helium II Transfer on Metal Surfaces
Nature, 1950ONE of the most striking features of the film flow in liquid helium II is provided by the fact that the rate of transfer seems to be largely independent of the experimental conditions1. It was thought for some time that the rate was influenced by the geometrical shape of the transfer vessel, or by a temperature gradient in the film2, or by small ...

On conduction heat transfer in metals
Physica B: Condensed Matter, 2013Abstract The classical heat equation is characterized both by the instantaneous propagation of a physical interaction and by the lack of a particle that carries the heat. Metals have a particular feature: their atoms form a lattice with electrons traveling through the solid. This paper provides a conduction heat model for metals.

Significance of Metallic Transfer in Orthopædic Surgery
Nature, 1954IN an earlier communication1 attention was directed to the transfer of metal which can occur between a screwdriver tip and a screw head during the operation of screwing, and the possible significance this might have in orthopaedic surgery was discussed.

Metal Transfer in Sliding Contacts
Journal of Applied Physics, 1957Transfer of radioactive silver has been studied quantitatively in sliding contacts containing graphite and metal. The rate of transfer from silver-graphite riders to graphite cylinders is initially high but soon approaches a limiting equilibrium state. The amount of silver transfer increases markedly with surface roughness.

Electron transfer at metal surfaces
2003In recent years there has been considerable interest in electrode processes at metal surfaces with alkanethiol monolayers attached to them. One effect of the monolayer is that the electron transfer rate from the redox reagent in solution to the metal (gold or platinum are commonly used) becomes clearly nonadiabatic and the effect of the density of ...
