2D α‐Co(OH)2 interleaved with Mo species displays an appealing dual functionality for the production and use of green hydrogen.Mo incorporation greatly benefits the electrochemical behaviour in Oxygen Evolution Reaction for H2 production, while the magnetocaloric response at liquid H2 temperature paves the way for alternative cryogenic refrigerants ...

Harnessing redox-inactive rare-earth metals for photocatalytic reductive coupling of benzyl bromides
Compared with rare and expensive late-transition metals, rare-earth photocatalysts are much less investigated in synthetic chemistry, particularly concerning redox-inactive rare-earth metals.

Drawing inspiration from the layered hard‐soft architecture found in sea sponges, this work establishes a new framework for architected cementitious composites (ACC) through multi‐material additive manufacturing (MMAM) process. The integration of mortar and elastomer phases into layered architectures enables synergistic toughening mechanisms, including

Evidence for Itinerant Ferromagnetic Flat Bands Producing Large Transverse Responses
Itinerant ferromagnetic flat bands are demonstrated in GdCo5 with a high Curie temperature of 940K, a stacked honeycomb–kagome lattice, through angle‐resolved photoemission spectroscopy and magneto‐thermoelectric measurements. These topological flat bands generate large Berry curvaturte, producing gigantic anomalous Nernst effect with record‐high ...

Magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs) using MgO tunnel barriers face challenges of high resistance‐area product and low tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR). To discover alternative materials, Literature Enhanced Ab initio Discovery (LEAD) is developed. The LEAD‐predicted materials are theoretically evaluated, showing that MTJs with dusting of ScN or TiN on ...

Electropolishing the Rare-Earth Metals
Abstract : This paper describes a method whereby the rare-earth metals can be consistently electropolished and chemically etched. The method involves cooling an alcohol-perchloric electrolyte to -76 deg C before electropolishing. The metals are chemically polished in the same solution.

Associating a red‐NIR phosphorescent octahedral hexanuclear molybdenum cluster compound with hexaethyleneoxide chains bearing mesogenic units on both ends leads to an emissive hybrid liquid crystal showing mesomorphism on a very unusual temperature range down to −25°C.

The distribution coefficients of Nd3+ and Y3+ between 0.1 and 2.1 M HNO3 and HDEHP at 298.15 K
Rare earth metals are considered to be some of the most critical raw materials on the planet due to their use in many products and technologies, the difficulty in isolating the individual elements from ores and each other, and the market restrictions ...

In this study, we paid attention to separate and recover samarium, europium and gadolinium, which are typical rare-earth metals. Since rare-earth metals have almost the same property, it is very difficult to separate them from each other.
