The Chemical Record, 2010
AbstractThe synthesis and isolation of stable bimetallic complexes that contain formally quintuply bonded transition metals is a novel and emerging field of science. Efforts have been undertaken in designing and tuning the ligands to achieve a very short (actually the shortest) metal‐metal bond.

Deformation Processed Metal–Metal Composites
Advanced Engineering Materials, 2000Deformation processed metal–metal composites (DMMCs) are composites in which both the matrix and the reinforcing phase are ductile metals. The ductility of the metals permits the composite to be heavily deformed by drawing or rolling to reduce the thickness and spacing of the two phases to as small as 10 nm.

In Denmark 4,456 metal-on-metal (MoM) hip prostheses have been implanted. Evidence demonstrates that some patients develope adverse biological reactions causing failures of MoM hip arthroplasty. Some reactions might be systemic. Failure rates are associated with the type and the design of the MoM hip implant.

An introduction to metal-metal superlattices is presented, along with a brief review of some of the materials which have been made, and phenomena which have been observed so far. We describe in detail the results of a number of structural characterization techniques applied to these materials, including Bragg θ-2θ x-ray diffraction, transmission and ...
