Ultrasensitive Tunable Terahertz Sensor via Critical Coupling‐Enhanced Fano Resonance

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 9, 13 May 2026.
This work presents a hybrid terahertz sensor via the combination of graphene‐strip metasurface, cavity resonance, and gold film polaritons. The sensor achieves critical coupling with an ultrahigh‐Q resonance and tunable FOM with stable high sensitivity via gate voltage regulation, exhibiting excellent performance for on‐chip integrated biochemical ...

Broadband and Wide‐Angle Nonreciprocal Electromagnetic Transport via Gradient Permeability‐Near‐Zero Metastructures

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 9, 13 May 2026.
ABSTRACT Breaking time‐reversal symmetry to achieve broadband and wide‐angle nonreciprocity is critical in electromagnetic waves manipulation. While Epsilon‐Near‐Zero materials have revolutionized the control of Transverse Magnetic modes, realizing comparable broadband nonreciprocity for Transverse Electric (TE) modes remains a formidable challenge ...

Loss Compensation and Coherent Virtual Absorption via Virtual Complex Frequency Wave Excitation

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 9, -Not available-.
By establishing a mathematical bridge between real and complex frequencies, we present a general method for complex frequency wave excitation to obtain all electromagnetic responses at complex frequencies. Using properties of complex frequency waves, we compensate for the propagating loss of point sources and surface plasmon polaritons.

Packaging of Macroscopic Material Payloads: Needs, Challenges, Concepts, and Future Directions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 28, Issue 9, 6 May 2026.
This review introduces a unified framework that decomposes any macroscopic packaging system into the payload, packaging material, and packaging strategy and combines them into a conceptual packaging equation: packaging strategy = payload + packaging material.
