Engineering Metamaterials and Photonic Crystals in the Microwave Regime: from Superlensing to Slow-Light [PDF]
The following work involves the study of electromagnetic properties at the microwave frequency range of a class of materials called Metamaterials. A metamaterial is an artificial composite material that exhibits an electromagnetic response unlike any ...

Bringing the ‘perfect lens’ into focus by near-perfect compensation of losses without gain media
In this paper, the optical properties and imaging performance of a non-ideal Pendry’s negative index flat lens with a practical value for loss are studied. Analytical calculations of the optical properties of the lens are performed, and those results are

Analytic Sinusoidal Steady-State Electromagnetic Field Expressions for the Ideal Veselago Lens
Analytic expressions for the sinusoidal steady-state electromagnetic field associated with an ideal Veselago lens illuminated by either a line-source (2D case) or an electric dipole point-source (3D case) are obtained based on power flow considerations ...

Metamaterial slab as a lens, a cloak, or an intermediate [PDF]
We show that a metamaterial slab with arbitrary values of $\ensuremath{\varepsilon}$ and $\ensuremath{\mu}$ behaves as a cloak at a finite frequency for a small object located sufficiently close to it due to the suppression of the object's optical excitations by enhanced reflections.

Characterisation at infrared wavelengths of metamaterials formed by thin-film metallic split-ring resonator arrays on silicon [PDF]
The infrared reflectance spectra at normal incidence for split-ring resonator arrays fabricated in thin films of three different metals on a silicon substrate are reported.

Menger fractal structure with negative refraction and sound tunnelling properties
We construct new quasi-three-dimensional fractal acoustic metamaterials based on adoption of the Menger structure, which offers extraordinary parameters such as double-negative properties and a near-zero density.

Hybrid SRRs Design and Fabrication for Broadband Terahertz Metamaterials
Hybrid metamaterials comprising split-ring resonator (SRR) structures with different gap dimensions are fabricated on polyethylene naphthalate (PEN) films by parallel laser micro-lens array (MLA) lithography and a liftoff process. The unit cell of hybrid

Enhancement of Microwave Imaging Using a Metamaterial Lens
Microwave far-field imaging techniques are well suited to image source, scatterers, and anomalies in dielectric or composite materials. However, the diffraction limits restrict the resolution of far-field imaging. This contribution focuses on the feasibility of designing a metamaterial lens based sensor for enhancing the resolution of microwave far ...
