Ultrahigh Pressure Metamorphism: Cambridge Topics in Petrology

open access: yesEos, Transactions American Geophysical Union, 1996
The field of ultra‐high pressure metamorphism (UHPM) emerged only 12 years ago when microscopic relics of coesite were found in crustal rocks that had been metamorphosed during subduction related to continental collision. Coesite‐bearing metamorphic rocks were soon found elsewhere, and then metamorphic microdiamonds were discovered.

Calibration, Validation and Evaluation of Machine Learning Thermobarometers in Metamorphic Petrology: An Application to Biotite and Outlook for Future Strategy

open access: hybridJournal of Metamorphic Geology, Volume 43, Issue 8, Page 755-780, October 2025.
ABSTRACT Geothermobarometry provides crucial constraints on the physical conditions of metamorphism, offering insights into petrogenetic processes and providing key information on thermal regimes and metamorphic depths to other geological disciplines.

Rock‐buffered versus fluid‐buffered geochemistry of structurally controlled, hydrothermal dolomite: Insights from the Sichuan Basin, China

open access: yesSedimentology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Structurally controlled hydrothermal dolomitization, commonly driven by high‐pressure, high‐temperature fluid–rock reactions, offers insights into the tectonic evolution of sedimentary basins and the geochemical composition of their diagenetic fluids.

Problems of the Metamorphic and Igneous Rocks of the Mojave Desert [PDF]

open access: yes, 1954
The Mojave Desert region, as defined by Baker (1911, pp. 335-336), is the region of desert plains, mountains, and valleys comprising the extreme southwestern portion of the Great Basin (fig. 1).

Rifting and arc-related early Paleozoic volcanism along the North Gondwana margin: geochemical and geological evidence from Sardinia (Italy) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Three series of volcanic rocks accumulated during the Cambrian to Silurian in the metasediment-dominated Variscan basement of Sardinia. They provide a record of the changing geodynamic setting of the North Gondwana margin between Upper Cambrian and ...

Mineral chemistry and geothemobarometry of mantle harzburgites in the Eastern Metamorphic Complex of Khoy ophiolite -NW Iran

open access: yesJournal of Economic Geology, 2017
Introduction Khoy ophiolite at the global scale is in the middle part of the Alp-Himalaya orogenic belt and it is extended over 3900 Km2 which indicates remnant Neotethys oceanic lithosphere in the Mesozoic era (Kananian et al., 2010). In this paper, in

Sedimentology and geomorphology of tufa barrages on rock coast shore platforms

open access: yesSedimentology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Despite tufa deposits being widely distributed and increasingly recognised globally on rock coasts, their distribution in the tidal frame and geomorphology is poorly understood. The distribution, sedimentology and geomorphology of tufa barrages on supratidal rock coasts are assessed and their controls established.

Sedimentary record of submarine gravity‐flow events in the southern Ryukyu forearc during the last 200 000 years: archive of mega‐earthquakes and tsunamis

open access: yesSedimentology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Despite high convergence velocity, the southern Ryukyu subduction has relatively low and sparse instrumental seismicity, in contrast with the Yaeyama Islands, hit by huge tsunamis over the last few thousand years. This study explores the potential of deep marine sediments to record past large earthquakes and tsunamis.

Petrography and mineral chemistry of wehrlites in contact zone of gabbro intrusions and mantle peridotites of the Naein ophiolite

open access: yesJournal of Economic Geology, 2014
Introduction Geological background Ophiolites have played a major role in our understanding of Earth’s processes ranging from seafloor spreading, melt evolution and magma transport in oceanic spreading centers, and hydrothermal alteration and ...
