Petrology of Oligocene Ghaleh Yaghmesh granitoids in the west of Yazd province

open access: yesJournal of Economic Geology, 2017
Introduction The generation and evolution of granitic magmas has been a hot debated subject among petrologists. The diversity of their origin has led different authors to propose that these rocks are not simple in their origin and might be generated in

Preparation and Identification of Heavy Minerals for Archaeometrical Studies: Villa of Fiumana (FC), Italy

open access: yesJournal of Raman Spectroscopy, EarlyView.
This paper presents a new protocol for the laboratory preparation of archaeological samples. Ceramics that have been hand‐crafted using different sediments as raw materials were collected in a Roman Villa sited in Fiumana (FC), Italy. This method aims at concentrating and analysing heavy minerals in the 15–250 μm grain size fraction, studying the ...

Mineral chemistry of garnet in pegmatite and metamorphic rocks in the Hamedan area

open access: yesJournal of Economic Geology, 2015
Introduction The area of this study is located near Hamadan within the Sanandaj - Sirjan tectonic zone. In the Hamadan area, consisting mainly of Mesozoic plutonic and metamorphic rocks, aplites and pegmatites locally contain garnets.(Baharifar et

Determination of Thermal Damage and Failure Time Analysis in Rocks Using Stochastic Models

open access: yesQuality and Reliability Engineering International, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study presents a stochastic modeling framework for estimating thermal damage and predicting failure time in fine‐grained Dholpur sandstone subjected to high‐temperature conditions. Unlike conventional approaches that rely on extensive thermally altered physical and mechanical properties, the proposed method utilizes only temperature and ...

Tributary‐Trunk Sedimentary Links in an Inter‐Dam River Reach: Lessons From Low‐Altitude High‐Gradient Forested Streams, the Dyje River (Czechia‐Austria)

open access: yesRiver Research and Applications, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study employs two measures of connectivity, valley confinement index (VCI) and effective catchment area (ECA), combined with a field survey of active sediment sources (ASS) to unravel the tributary‐trunk sedimentary links in the 42.5 km long inter‐dam reach of the Dyje River, Czech‐Austrian border.

Comparison of the Thermometery-Barometery methods by using Thermocalc and Theriak-domino to study Calc- silicate Hornfelses in Cheshin, Hamedan

open access: yesJournal of Economic Geology, 2019
Introduction The pseudo-section method, first proposed by Hensen (1971), is used today by scientists to determine the thermodynamic conditions of mineral crystallization and modeling in metamorphic lithology (Hoschek, 2004; Omrani et al., 2013).

Semi‐arid river dynamics from the internal geometry of river deposits

open access: yesGeographical Research, EarlyView.
This article aims to understand fluvial dynamics based on the internal geometry of fluvial deposits, using radar morphostratigraphy in floodplains, especially those whose genesis is associated with anthropogenic controls, such as upstream of dams.

Morphology and distribution of lakes under the Laurentide Ice Sheet: implications for ice flow dynamics

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
This study examines the distribution and morphology of lakes under the Laurentide Ice Sheet (LIS) to investigate relationships with ice flow velocity, bedrock and basal thermal regime. Palaeo‐ice streams and lobes were important components of the LIS, and properties of lakes in those regions are quantified at high resolution.
