Semiquantitative microscopic pore characterizations of the metamorphic rock reservoir in the central paleo-uplift belt, Songliao Basin [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
Currently, metamorphic rock is a common target for natural gas exploration, and reservoirs are the key factors restricting natural gas exploration and development in metamorphic rocks.

Weathering Processes and Mechanisms of Low-Grade Metamorphic Rock following Freeze-Thaw Processes [PDF]

open access: goldGeofluids, 2023
A remarkable risk in the field of rock engineering is the natural exposure of low-grade metamorphic rock to the freeze-thaw process. Examples of such materials are slate and phyllite, which are employed approximately mountainous permafrost zones.

Characteristics, Controlling Factors and Reservoir Quality Implications of Inner Fracture Zones in Buried Hills of Archean Covered Metamorphic Rock in Block 13-2, Bozhong Depression [PDF]

open access: goldEnergies
Inner fracture zones play a decisive role in the formation of high-quality reservoirs in buried hill reservoirs in covered metamorphic rock. Based on core, sidewall core, thin section, seismic, logging and reservoir physical property data, the fracture ...

Abrasivity database of different genetic rocks based on CERCHAR Abrasivity Test [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Data
Rock abrasivity is one of the main factors affecting the wear of rock-cutting tools, which is usually quantified by the CERCHAR Abrasivity Index (CAI). Researchers and engineers study tool wear and predict tool life based on the CAI of rocks.

New age constraints for metasedimentary rocks in southern Finland [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Geological Society of Finland, 2023
Metasedimentary rocks from nine sampling sites in southern Finland and an intermediate dyke in one of these sites were sampled for analysis of U–Pb zircon age and geochemical composition.

Metamorphic evolutions of high-pressure low-temperature units from ophiolitic mélange of North Soghan (NE Hajiabad, Hormozgan) [PDF]

open access: yesپترولوژی, 2021
The Seghin metamorphic complex of ophiolitic mélange from the north Soghan, composed of metamorphic suites varying in protolith and metamorphic grade. The rock units of this complex have been metamorphosed under PT conditions of pumpellyite- actinolite ...

Study on changes of coal microstructure under the condition of igneous rock intrusion

open access: yesMeikuang Anquan, 2022
In order to study the effect of igneous rock intrusion on coal oxidation, the electronic scanning mirror, specific surface area tester and pressure mercury meter are used to test the coal samples before and after the igneous rock intrusion, by comparing

PETROGRAPHY AND PROVENANCE OF SANDSTONE AND STUDIES OF SHALE OF KULDANA FORMATION, KALAMULA AND KHURSHEEABAD AREA, KAHUTA, AZAD KASHMIR [PDF]

open access: yesEarth Science Malaysia, 2017
Rocks exposed in the study area are Kuldana Formation which is comprised of variegated color shale and sandstone. The model data of Kuldana sandstone exhibit average quartz 35%, feldspars 3%, rock fragments 20% and heavy minerals. The quartz grains are

Soil Depth Prediction Model Using Terrain Attributes in Gangwon-do, South Korea

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
Soil depth is a crucial parameter in slope stability analysis in mountainous areas. The drilling survey is the most reliable method for determining soil depth, but it requires a high cost for the vast geographical area.

Insight into the Distribution of High-pressure Shock Metamorphism in Rubble-pile Asteroids [PDF]

open access: yesThe Planetary Science Journal 3 (2022) 198, 2022
Shock metamorphism in ordinary chondrites allows for reconstructing impact events between asteroids in the main asteroid belt. Shock-darkening of ordinary chondrites occurs at the onset of complete shock melting of the rock (>70 GPa) or injection of sulfide and metal melt into the cracks within solid silicates (\sim 50 GPa).
