Confronting Episodic vs. Continuous Heat Sources in Long‐Lived Hot Orogens: Insights From Petrochronological Studies in the Nova Venecia Complex, Araçuaí Orogen (SE Brazil)

open access: yesJournal of Metamorphic Geology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Orogenic belts that sustain elevated temperatures at intermediate crustal depths for tens of millions of years are known as hot orogens. The evolution of these hot orogens is largely influenced by thermal maturation, primarily driven by the distribution of heat‐producing elements (HPEs), such as K, Th and U in the overthickened crust.

Molecular characterization of the type species of Kyrtuthrix (Rivulariaceae, Cyanobacteriota) with comparison to Nunduva: Morphologically different but molecularly cryptic genera

open access: yesJournal of Phycology, EarlyView.
Abstract The euendolithic genus Kyrtuthrix was originally described in 1929 by A. Ercegović from the Dalmatian coast. Due to its isopolar filaments, Kyrtuthrix was classified within the cyanobacterial system as part of the family Scytonemataceae, even though trichomes tapering toward their ends represent a feature typical of the family Rivulariaceae ...
