Comparison between 2D and 3D microstructures and implications for metamorphic constraints using a chloritoid–garnet-bearing mica schist [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Mineralogy
Despite the fact that rock textures depend on the 3D spatial distribution of minerals, our tectono-metamorphic reconstructions are mostly based on a 2D visualisation (i.e. thin sections).

Orbital and eustatic control of basin hydrology during the first stage of the Messinian Salinity Crisis

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, EarlyView.
The paleo‐hydrology of the Sorbas Basin (SE Spain) and the wider Mediterranean region during the deposition of the Primary Lower Gypsum (PLG) stage of the Messinian Salinity Crisis, from ~5.97 to ~5.60 Ma, was affected by tectonics, precession‐forced climate oscillations, and eustatic sea‐level change.

Relationship between Brittleness Index and Crack Initiation Stress Ratio for Different Rock Types

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2020
Brittleness and crack initiation stress (σci) are important rock mechanical properties and intrinsically related to rock deformation and failure. We establish the relationship between σci and uniaxial tensile strength (σt) based on the Griffith stress ...

Deciphering depositional controls and evolution of a lacustrine supradetachment basin through facies analysis: Gördes Basin, Western Türkiye

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, EarlyView.
The lacustrine Gördes Supradetachment Basin was developed along the Simav detachment fault during postorogenic extension in the north of the Menderes Massif in western Anatolia. The basin‐fill succession is represented by alluvial fan, Gilbert‐type delta, shoal‐water delta, foreshore, shoreface, offshore‐transition and peat‐forming mire deposits.

Mineral Characteristics and Metamorphic Evolution of Pelitic Gneiss in Wulashan Area, Central Inner Mongolia

open access: yesKuangchan zonghe liyong, 2023
Wulashan Neoarchean peliticgneiss is exposed in the eclogite gneiss formation of Wulashan group in central Inner Mongolia. It is the most widely distributed plutonic metamorphic rock in Wulashan formation.

Experimental and constitutive modeling investigations on marble in Jinping Underground Laboratory

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
The objective of this study is to reveal the underlying mechanisms behind the brittle‐ductile transition of the marble through a combination of experimental research and constitutive modeling. A series of triaxial compression and triaxial cyclic loading tests are conducted.

Geochemical characteristics of apatite in metabasic rocks under different metamorphic conditions: a case study from the Paleoproterozoic Trans-North China Orogen

open access: yesDizhi lixue xuebao
Objective  Apatite is a common accessory mineral that is widely distributed in various rock types. Its U-Pb age, trace elements (particularly REE, Th, U, and Sr), and Sr-Nd isotopic compositions provide important information on its chronology and ...
