Building phenotypic character matrices for phylogenetic inference: exploration of 35 years of practice

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Recent methodological development in phylogenetic inference has focused predominantly on molecular data. However, renewed interest in other data types, particularly morphological data, has followed from the increased recognition of the power of total evidence and tip‐dating approaches, including fossil data, for inference of time‐scaled trees ...

Unfolding the Mysteries of Protein Metamorphosis

open access: yesACS Chemical Biology, 2018
Since the proposal of Anfinsen’s thermodynamic hypothesis in 1963, our understanding of protein folding and dynamics has gained significant appreciation of its nuance and complexity.

Strategic Innovation for Sustainability: A Conceptual Model Linking Digitalization, Social Dynamics, and Climate Change Mitigation

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study addresses a significant research gap in the literature by systematically reviewing and synthesizing the interplay between social dynamics, environmental changes, and organizational innovation. Although prior research has explored these dimensions in isolation, the integrative framework remains lacking.

Looking into the puparium: Micro‐CT visualization of the internal morphological changes during metamorphosis of the blow fly, Calliphora vicina, with the first quantitative analysis of organ development in cyclorrhaphous dipterans

open access: yesJournal of morphology, 2017
Metamorphosis of cyclorrhaphous flies takes place inside a barrel‐like puparium, formed by the shrinking, hardening and darkening of the third‐instar larval cuticle.

Metal‐Ion Regulated Light‐Free Z→E Isomerization of Azobenzene Glycomacrocycle

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Metal ion‐catalyzed Z→E isomerization of photoswitchable azobenzene glycomacrocycle: A new azobenzene‐based glycomacrocycle is capable of forming a 1:1 complex with divalent metal ions in both E‐ and Z‐isomers. The complexes undergo light‐free Z→E isomerization in a timescale spanning from seconds to weeks.

Advancing mine pillar design: Evaluating traditional methods and integrating AI for enhanced stability of pillars in the Great Dyke, Zimbabwe

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
B1 is bord width 1, B2 is bord width 2, L is the pillar length, W is the pillar width, red color and letter A represent the pillars, and white color and number 1 represent excavated areas. Pstress is the average pillar stress; σv is the vertical component of the virgin stress, MPa; and e is the areal extraction ratio. e = B o B o + B P ${\rm{e}}=\frac{{
