Plasma metanephrines in renal failure [PDF]
Diagnosis of pheochromocytoma in renal failure poses a diagnostic dilemma due to lack of reliability of conventional urinary measurements of catecholamine excess. Measurements of the plasma metanephrines, normetanephrine and metanephrine (the O-methylated metabolites of norepinephrine and epinephrine), provide an alternative diagnostic test.

Plasma Metanephrines in the Diagnosis of Pheochromocytoma [PDF]
To examine whether tests for plasma metanephrines, the o-methylated metabolites of catecholamines, offer advantages for diagnosis of a pheochromocytoma over standard tests for plasma catecholamines or urinary metanephrines.Cross-sectional study.3 clinical specialist centers.52 patients with a pheochromocytoma; 67 normotensive persons and 51 patients ...

Enzyme and acid deconjugation of plasma sulfated metanephrines [PDF]
Total (i.e. free+sulfated) metanephrines in plasma is a biomarker for the diagnosis of pheochromocytoma/paraganglioma. Sulfated metanephrines must be completely deconjugated by perchloric acid hydrolysis or sulfatase treatment prior to analytical measurement to enable quantification by current techniques.

Plasma free metanephrines for diagnosis of neuroblastoma patients
Clinical Biochemistry, 2019A substantial number of patients with neuroblastoma (NB) have increased excretion of catecholamines and metanephrines. Here, we have investigated the diagnostic role of plasma free metanephrines (PFM), metanephrine (MN), normetanephrine (NMN) and 3-methoxytyramine (3MT) for NB, the most common extra-cranial solid tumour in children.PFM were quantified ...

Enzymatic conversion of metanephrine to normetanephrine
