Sie muss den Substitutionsgedanken überwinden, wonach der übertragene Ausdruck für etwas nur den eigentlichen Ausdruck für dasselbe vertritt. Damit stellt sie den Dualismus von Verstandesbegriff und metaphorischem Anschauungsinhalt in Frage.
